Alright, I came home from a nice long game of raquetball, and decided that i wanted to play some CS:S. I booted ole' Herby (my PC) up, and eveyrthing looked fine. Until I joined a server.... I was getting 140 FPS strong, my latency was 32, my settings were all on high, everything was like I left it. So, i started going through what I did last night. The only thing that can come to mind is that I uninstalled Adobe Audition 1.5. I uninstalled my video drivers, and re-installed new ones that jndietz told me to get. I almost broke my 6800GT over my knee.

Please help me!!!

I think that what he means is that when he is playing, he will get 140FPS but everything is running very jerky or awkward.

oh okay, so let me read it this way I was getting 140 FPS strong....Until I joined a server :), AFAIK it's normal, try playing BF2 on a full 64 player map(i usually get a ping <140), you'll experience lag, i'm sure the same might go for CS:Source. i would say it has more to do with the server than your setup.

edit: please don't hurt the 6800gt

cl_interpolate 1 or 0?

that can affect how the game feels (1 is smooth 0 is really laggy when spectating) but your framerate stays the same.

I checked the cl_interpolate, and it was already at 1. I tried 0, lol, and it got even laggier. Should I uninstall/reinstall? this is extremely stressful.

Thanks jndietz!

It could be the server. I am the leader of a clan that runs 5 100 tick servers. If the server's frams rendered start to drop it will seem very laggy.

Next time you play got into console and type "netgraph3". Once you have the net data showing play around a litttle bit and see if you get any choke or loss.

I found out that it was lagging really bad when i was messing with the cl_updaterate. I put it to the highest i thought Herby could handle (150).

Any other consol commands I shouldn't screw with.

Have you tried other servers? Have you tried making your own private server?

How much RAM do you have? sometimes if you're on 512 it will stutter/lag a lot. set the graphics on medium or low and see if that helps. if so, ram might be needed.

LOL

That is your problem man. Bring up netgraph3 and I will bet you a new PC that you are getting some lose or choke.

I have 1 gig of ram. I'm not getting any choke. And, yes, i tried about 4 different servers. Well, I'm at somewhat of a mini-lan right now and CS is playing fine...

But, the really weird thing is that when i plugged in my PC, the Steam.exe was deleted. I re-installed Steam yesterday, and it was working all fine and dandy until i came here. So, we've spent the last 3 hours intsalling it again.

Thanks for all t3h help.

I don't think the Rivatuner got figured out. I can play at 60FPS solid until you do the remote assistance. I'm at a mini-lan right now, I'd talk to you on MSN, but my friends dad blocks the IP to MSN on all computers except one. We have 6 PC's, and 2 X-Boxes hooked up to this T1 Internet connection, and we're getting no lag. It's awesome.
