CS:Source Dedicated Server

okay so i just DL'ed and installed Source dedicated server from steam.
seems to be running fine. no plugins or anything. i can view it and connect to it fine from my servers window (favorites & from lan tab)

the problem is that my friends cannot connect to it from their internet connection. is there a simple way to solve this?

Haven't tried this before, but I would assume it's your router firewall or a software firewall.

Also use a dynamic DNS service so you don't have to give them your IP when it switches:
http://www.dyndns.com/services/dns/dyndns/

Yeah, somehow you are not allowing the person to route in. You may need to open the correct ports for inbound traffic.
