Full Throttle Servers has a special going for Counter-Strike and Counter-Strike:Source servers. You can get a 12 player server for $2/player per month. For the math challenged, that's $24/month. Not sure what happens after the first month.

p.s. I'm not affiliated with the company, but I do play on one of their servers and have been very pleased with it and recommend them highly.

EDIT: Just noticed they lowered their prices even more. It's now as low as 1.60/player. Going to renew mine now before the special pricing expires. w00t!

about the same price, but with webspace, and 50 slot ventrilo. can't beat that. top-notch servers as well.

Yes, they are popular, but FTS has instant, automatic setup. And they've always responded to my emails really fast.

Same deal with NRG. Our last server was up in 5 minutes.

We just got a Velocity Server. It's 11 man w/ HLTV and ping booster for $20 a month. Has FTP, webspace, all that crap we'll never use :)

I remember having a server with NRG a long time ago (I think when they first opened up). I had a lot of problems. Low sys_ticrate, fps was running at around 50-60 not boosted to 100 like many others, and a lot of ping spikes for everyone in the server. Every clan that joined the server would say your server sucks & it doesn't register the shots well... but their prices were great & the ventrilo worked well too.

Anyone know a cheap DoD server host? I'm on my second place right now and may move on from them too.

I first had Funservers which was listed...
"SPECIAL!!! Half-Life Mods $1.75 Per Slot. Source Engine Mods $1.90. Limited Time Offer"

They have the absolute WORST customer service of any place I know. After three weeks, they never got my Psychostats up. They also deleted some of my Amx files when I was trying to update it. They also offered me web hosting for free, but never gave it to me. I had e-mailed them about all these things about ten times, and used their trouble tickets on numerous occasions. I had received smart ass responses like "You have to e-mail www.psychostats.com and see if you can buy their domain name, then we can host your Psychostats at http://uw.psychostats.com." I was so pissed and cancelled my paypal autorenew payments after that e-mail. I still had a week left but they cancelled my whole account without refund (they were supposed to refund for my last week). Horrible place!

Now I have ET Game Hosting which has excellent customer service, has set me up with TWO servers (one 22 man pub, one 14 man priv) with Psychostats on both (both work), a teamspeak server, and a referral to another website for $2 web hosting. I've been satisifed, but when players reach 16 and up, the server lags horribly (everyone in the 100-300 pings). They disabled my shrikebot's, but now nobody comes to an empty server. I need bots for it, but they won't let me know. Dunno if I should move on from them too. Laggy above 16 players and no bots... hmm..

So anyone know of a cheap DoD server host? I am now paying $63 for the above paragraph of stuff.

That's great if you can swing it. Not all of us have free dedicated access though. I used to host at a friend's place of business. Pings weren't as good as those I get in a data center. Also, my friend's company got pissed, kicked us off their network and my friend got in a bunch of trouble over using his company's network for our game server...

I have a server on a friends network. The server is called Atlanta Despair. I had a 20 person server from Affordable Game Server for $30. I had a great ping on the server. But hey....you cant beat free. If you stop by my server and see -=luzr=- Drunkenmaster on, mention you got the address from Anandtech. 64.238.127.148:27015

Hmm, With 768K up and 6mbit down.. I should think a cable connection would host.. I have a server up most days.. we've had 10 folks on it with no noticeable lag. I pay 10.00 a month more than standard .. but I don't use it just for serving.. I'm an avid demo downloader etc.

One of our clients pointed me at this thread -- I hope it's not taboo for me to be posting here; I read the forum rules and didn't see anything that said I shouldn't... Anyway RezMN -- we have our DOD support in beta test right now and will be rolling it into production in the next few days.

This is a way better deal. Have you been happy with them over all?

I was very happy with them. I got a good ping and there support was pretty good. I would still be with them if my friend didnt have access to a dual t1. You get a three day free trial before they charge you.

Aim2game gamedaemons and griffin run have the best game servers, lowest ping, best FPS. I've been playing competitive counter-strike for 6 years.

Anyone who's been playing for 6 years know that Gamedaemons have gone WAY down hill. The majority of their servers have lagspikes and just been crappy all around. We quit using them for that very reason.

Griffin are great but they are way overpriced. You can get something from NuclearFallout and other providers that are equal in quality but half the price.
