CS:S on 6800GTO

Is it right that I get sub 50FPS (during firefights, not when I'm staring at the wall) on a 3.2 Ghz 1gig ram 6800GTO Dell 2005fpw max resolution? In counter-strike source

but you have MAX setting what do you expect? just turn it down to 2x/8x and you wont be able to tell the difference.

6800 GTO's aren't exactly top of the line and 1680x1050 is sort of high for a 128MB card. Drop AA if you have it on and get an A64. Also as Megaworks said it seems like a bug because alot of poeple get even lower FPS than that and have even faster setups.

you're kidding right?

no man, it's really pissing me off. I spent all that money and it's still 50 fps.

yuo shouldnt have bought a crappy dell.
seriously, you couldve bilt a much better system for less $ yourself. dell overcharges severely. unles you got 35-40% off that xps, you got ripped off...

anyway, 50fps during a firefight is basically minimum fps(firefights are most stressful right?). with 128mb vid ram, at 16x10, amx settings is VERY impressive. im suprised they are so high. just be happy with that it's very high.

No offense mwmorph, a Dell might run you a little more, but usually the trend with synthetic benchmarks show alot of Dells with the same hardware to score very well, if not higher then a custom build.

Problem in this particular thread is not the hardware, its the user.

Don't be offended, but I believe your caught up in the speed fever. Your system is great, but ya want more 😉 we all had the fever. Turn FRAPS off and play b4 the system gets slow in a year 😉

okay well either way they aren't really fast enough to make use of 256 MB unless of course its a AGP one which could potentially be changed into a GT.

what exactly is the gto?

isit 12 or 8 pipes?

and dude if your hovering round 50fps then rejoice.

with my rig ; A643200+, 1gig Geil PC3200, leadtek 6800GT, audigy 2 etc etc....i go into the 30's though i do play on a 40 person server, and even a 64 person one at times

Playing games on the net just adds another layer that could potentially be a bottleneck. Bad lag or bad netcode could adversely affect your fps as well. I usually find that playing online can really affect fps unless you are getting a nice smooth connection. Packet loss = fps drop in addition to other factors.

I have the GTO as well, and I am fairly certain they are all PCI Express. Anyway, I have it unlocked and OCed to 401/1101 on the stock cooling (which will be replaced shortly with a Zalman VF700-Cu). 3Dmark05 results of ~5500.

Why are they not fast enough to make use of 256 MB?

because, when stock it's 12/5 which isnt realyl fast enough to really need 256mb. at 16/6 like yours though, 256mb is good.
