CS:S lagging at menu

anyone no how to fix or why when i start cs:s and click find servers, the game starts to lag, once it is done searching it is fine and also when i am playing and search it usually is ok but when i frist start up and search it lags like crazy, almost seems like it does not have enough resources. also when i quit out of the whole game it takes forever to close and usually requires me atl-tab to the desktop to finally get out. hl2 runs fine and the game plays fine, and i am positive my system can handle it. i am thinken it might be a missing file or something but not sure

I had that same prob when I 1st installed CSS. The server listings would lag and take about 2+ mins to stop refreshing before I could join a server. I had his problem for about 2 days until after I switched to a new nVidia driver. I wouldn't think that would affect the server listings like that but it seemed to work for me.... it MAY have been another setting that I tweaked but I don't remember doing so.

alright, i will def try swithching drivers, right now i am using the 66.93 ones from nvidia site, but i want to try the 71.20. any info on these would be nice if any one has it on a 6800gt, also what is that pee water people talk about in hl2 and what should i be looking for to see if i have it...pics would be nice of both with and without pee water!!! 🙂

the new drivers did not change anything, the frames still drop when it is refreshing the list, it does it also in regular counter strike as well and even a little in farcry. i wonder if it is a firewall thing, but i have disabled the nvfirewall and it still happens. is there any other way to check if it is the firewall?
