CS:S Do people really still play this?

I mean just checking youtube, there are 39 million hacks. Worse than that, when you actually login to play, servers are getting raped by hackers, and admin just says that they're "good". Also, where is the hit reg? You'd think that Valve could get a 30 year old game to perform well.

There are plenty of servers with legit admins. Since the game has been out for so long and is played so religiously by so many people there are going to be a lot of people who are really really good. If you want to try your hand at a highly competitive FPS it's still probably the best, and played by lots of people.

Find a good server (or servers) and stick with it. Hacks and general childishness gets banned very quickly, and people are a blast to play with overall. I'd still say it the best balance of weapon dynamics out there today - far from perfect, but MUCH better than the crap COD : MW2 gives you. Rate of fire, recoil, bullet damage, spread, etc.

Oh, and this thread's tags... "worst game ever?" Talk about laughable. Do you actually play the game or do you just watch it on YouTube? And by play it I don't mean jumped into a couple of games, got owned, and swore it off from there on.

I would disagree on weapon balance; if you want to play competitively there are really only four weapons to use, ever: awp, deagle, m4, AK, with the M4 standing above them all. Other guns only make sense if you can't use the AK or can't afford a rifle or something.

Oh, I've played it. It's funny to me that I can log into pretty much any other FPS and have a blast/do well, but CS:S is a disaster. No matter what server you go into, someone is 49-2. Sure, they just pre-fire wherever they go right?

Laughable. The reality is that Valve needs to do a complete overhaul of the system/reg/hacking deterrents to make this game legit again. Look on youtube for script hacks...it's hilarious how many are out there for auto-firing/pre-firing...and they can't be detected by VAC. I stand behind calling it the worst game ever for sure.

CSS sucks unless its an instant respawn deathmatch server with all weapons, even than although thats not bad its bested by cod4 and 6.

Hiding around corners chucking different types of grenades round at enemies that may or may not be there and then getting shot in the face anyways and watching those that hid better than you hide/creep around for another few minutes isnt fun.

And there are a lot of people who play that game religiously who are extremely good as well. I wouldnt classify all of them to be hackers. Now MW2, there is probably a hacker in 1 out of 3 games and you can easily tell who they are. They arent always aimbotting, but using texture hacks. etc

People call me a hacker all the time because I can easily go 3:1, 4:1 without breaking a sweat. I can do instant 90º/180º spinning headshots, instant headshots popping out of a hallway, headshots down long A in D2 and other such shenanigans. I don't hack. Because of this, I can only play on a few servers because everywhere else, I'll have to defend myself from the idiots who voteban me and dumbass server admins.

This thread sounds like people who hate more realistic style of plan and enjoy the run and gun play of CoD: MW1/2. Counter Strike has always been much slower gameplay. You can't just run and gun in that game cus you'll die quick. No stupid perks to help you out or anything. I play it sometimes and never notice a hacker in any servers I go to.

Still many good servers out there.
After many years CS:S is still the sixth most popular multiplayer shooter with more players than Crysis Warhead, COD World at War & COD Modern Warfare 2(which made $500,000,000.00 in sales in it's first week!).

Still an amazing game. As far as weapon accuracy and skill goes it's still the most competitive game on the market.

It really does sound like the typical "I suck at the game, therefore its being hacked" attitude.

CS:Source has been around for a LONG time. With that, there are people (admittedly with no lives) that have played it for like 10hrs a day just about every day since its inception. I've seen one in action, they are good, real good.

For these games, I always just found a few well-admined servers and regular'd there. I've never had problems. This is an advantage of dedicated servers where you can just find a community that suits you and become part of it.

If that concept went over your head, oh well.
