I played CS-S for a couple of months, but I always got killed off so quickly, didn't have the maps memorized, and didn't know what I was doing... I gave up and went back to UT2K4 where I'd be on top or at the middle of the pack. Even if I sucked at that, I'd still get to play instead of just watching everyone else all the time.

Is there no single-player mode for CS where I can get a little training? I've looked for a bit and found nothing...

Create Server> Add bots

The AI is pretty good for noob training.

there aren't all that many maps to get to know anyways in cs;) the main ones are dust office, and train. sure there are occasional mods and stuff, but the main ones are played the most.

as for training, forget bots.

join a death match server, just look at the server browser, it'll be marked dm or something, insta respawn, so you don't have to feel awful about being capped when trying out new or weak weapons.
