CS:S - Cant see LAN games

A buddy of mind and i cant get a lan game going. We have both of our pc's hooked up to a netgrear rangemax router (kinda screwie in the first place). I create a server and he goes to LAN under the find servers menu and nothing pops up. What are we doing wrong. We have both of our firewalls and virus protection off. I dont get why we cant see each other.

Can you see each other's shared folders? In other words, is it the game or your network that is having a problem?

Make your your defualt gateways are the same IE (255.255.255.0) , and make sure you arent using the same ip address. Try having another computer host the game if that isn't the problem .
