My friend who plays in tournaments with a team tells me that the lower the resolution the better in CS. Is this true??

I thought higher resolution would be a bit better.

Additionally in CS you aim low because of the muzzle climb right?

While in no way a noob to FPS, im still learning CS.

Resolution doesnt matter, dont listen to your friend who has "been in tourneys".
People use what they have been using since the begining, Ksharp uses (atleast he did back when i played against him) in 800x600, while destrukt will use 1024x768, so on and so forth. I use the latter, but it might depend on your system and wheter its CSS or CS....

The only game that resolution mattered in was Delta Force. At 640x480, everyone became dots, so you could snipe unscoped. Every other FPS, resolution just makes it look worse/nicer.

You want to aim towards the upper chest and burst. Don't go full auto on them, you won't hit them more than once. Don't assume because the gun is bigger it will be more effective. All you have to do is hit them with one bullet to the face, and even a pistola can do that. Find a gun that you are comfortable with, and a pistol too. I like the P90, 50 round clips make it the ultimate rush gun. Many choose the deagle for a pistol due to high damage, but I prefer the default one. The T's get a pistol that bursts(kick ass) and the CT's get one with a silencer. Silencers help a lot.

lower is only better if you can't get 60fps any other way. higher resolution is better as things in the disance become clearer, and we all know how important distance clarity is in this game.

I do fire in burst but i never seem to hit them much even when scoped.

My weapon of choice so far is the Bullpup, i like the zoomed in but not scoped feature. For the gun i normally just leave the default.

Should i get armor when affordable? I have noticed that it doesn't do much, unless you are "dueling". AWP's seem to shoot right through it.

It is really on preference. I too play cs in tourny's and I play at 800x600. The main reason is just because I personally feel I can aim a lot more precisely. Most people I know play in 800x600 or 640x480 for that same reason.

About your 2nd question about where to aim. Always start at the head and do 2-3 bullet bursts (if shooting in a distance). If you are up close and need to spray start at the head still but you need to pull down the mouse to control recoil and after A LOT of practice you will be able to keep it in roughly the same spot. Also, different weapons recoil goes in different directions and so you just need to learn each weapon...takes a while but it will begin to come naturally. I am still profecting my skills and I have been playing competetively for 3 years.

Armor does help, although I'm not sure how much the helmet helps. AWP can kill you 4 times with one bullet, it's severely overpowered. It is rare, but there is a chance it won't kill you too. No joke, I hit a guy 3 times with an AWP once for only 75 damage. I think they went through something(or someone) though. A lot of people get pissed because it's usually one hit one kill, but it's not easy to AWP. It's a bolt-action rifle, so you have to unscope after every shot.

I don't really like the bullpup myself, I think the M4 is more accurate. The game can get really frustrating at times, it often seems like you are lucky if you kill anyone, no matter how good you are. Personally, I do my best just getting the P90 and rushing. At close range your accuracy goes up, and they don't expect it so you catch them by surprise. Works everytime unless someone gets a lucky shot off.

awp won't kill if shot through the legs or perhaps an arm. and if it goes through an object first and then the legs i guess it might take 3 shots.
