I usually, am using a AK when I am a T's and a M4A1 (Colt) when i'm a CT. The AK, you have to be good at
, which is why sometimes you get all excited and you bust out in front of someone and unload a clip on them and the recoil on the gun makes the bullets go everywhere except your target. So usually, ALL THE TIME I will crouch REALLY fast and shoot 2-4 shots into a guy and he is down with a AK. In CQB, i'll go full auto and press my mouse to down to minmimize the kickback from the gun. Long distance i'm going to keep their shoulders in the middle of my sights and burst two shots, usually resulting in a fatal head shot. This is what I usually do in de_rats.
For the Colt, I can burst with 4-5 shots since the recoil is not as bad as a AK. Even though it is less powerful than a AK, I can still play good with one.
The MP5 is great for CQB, but blows for long distance.
The helmet is very effective. You will understand how effective it is when you are crouching and you can hear the bullets richochet off of it.
I always make sure I buy Kevlar/Helmet since many players use SMGs and those are just Pistol rounds fired at a higher ROF so it'll lessen the damage from them.
And to throw this in, my favorite pistol is the USP. Fast ROF and a powerful .45ACP. I highly recomend it

USP is good but the Five-Seven is the best. 20-round clip and on top of that it fires so damned fast if you circle strafe around someone and just keep popping, you'll either get them before they get you or they'll run out of ammo and you'll still have 5 or 7 left in your gun. Say goodbye!

Yeah but the USP is free, and has the silencer
(I know, only used a very small percentage of the time, but highly effective for a camping VIP)
I usually don't buy a pistol after first 1-2 rounds anyway, unless it's pistol wars, or killing newbies with .50 deagle

1) Why do you call it an AWP? it says AW/M in the menu so....?
The whole AWP thing was a mistake. I don't remember exactly how it happened, but I don't think it had anything to do with "Arctic Warfare Police" or anything like that. Before V1.0, it has almost always said "AWP Arctic Warfare Magnum," so I'm fairly sure it was a typo on old Goose's part.
2)Is there an m60, i've heard its there yet never seen it?????
CS has around 20 guns (too lazy to count in my head). It takes all of 30 seconds to scan all the names. So if you haven't seen it, it doesn't exist.
3)Why the |-|ell does my sound always cut out when i leave the game? Is it a bug or soemting not setup correctly or.....?????
A bug, most likely. If your sound card blows, get a new one.
If it doesn't, re-install something.
4)unrelated to CS, but: has ne1 heard about firearms? Good? Bad? worth postoning CS for another 45 minutes to finish d/l?
Heard of it. Played it for 30 seconds one time. Don't have much interest...
5)Another unrelated question: who keeps stealing MajesticMoose? It took me 10 minutes to pick a name at geocities(got bored and quit anyway). One would think that this is an obscure enough name to be safe. GRRRRRR

To clear up any confusion, there is no m60. There is an m249, formerly known as the SAW (Something Assault Weapon) -- the only machine gun in the game. Everyone at the c-s.net forums is always bitching for new weapons, I remember when there was actually a petition to put K-9's in the game. *sigh*
