CS minor worth it?

I've been taking classes towards a CS degree, but its time for me to be realistic. I've got some other stuff going on, and I just dont have time to pursue a full-fledged major in CS. I'd end up spending 6 or so years on my undergraduate. UT has a CS certificate program, kinda like a minor, where you take a sequence of 6 or 8 CS classes. What I want to know is, is something like that worth my time? Is it the sort of thing that employers will actually care about? or should I just forget about CS alltogether?

If you have the skill, experience, and knowledge.. why bother? Let's just say the work I do right now has NOTHING to do with my college degree. I still put down my degree (for credential that I actually graduate from an university), but people learn to ignore it once I show them what I know.

Couldn't hurt. Anything that makes you stand out from the dozen or two dozen other people looking for a job is a bonus, as long as it's not a 1.2 gpa or something else bad. I wouldn't just get a minor in CS and no major though...then it's just a waste.

Yes, it couldn't hurt. If it doesn't set you back like a year or something. Otherwise, go for it but don't stay another year just so you get a nice little CS minor certificate.

If your major will involve working with software developers / programmers it will help you get your first job and might even help you do that job better. What will your major be?

my other major is Physics. i also am in a Liberal Arts honors program that I will get a degree for.
Hmm, I guess the minor could be useful if you'll be involved in any simulation programming, either directly or managing some coders. Can you get a real CS minor taking fewer classes than this certificate you mentioned?
