Over the past few months, there has been much speculation revolving around Crytek and their excellent PC FPS, Crysis. Some rumors have been saying the game will eventually come to next-gen consoles, while others say it's only coming to the PlayStation 3. Then we heard about yet another rumor that said Crytek is working on a PSP title. But now, we have an official word from the developer's CEO, Cevat Yerli.

According to Softpedia, Yerli has confirmed that Crytek is definitely working on a non-Crysis-related title for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Earlier in 2008, we had stumbled across fairly reliable information saying that Crytek was planning to jump into the console race with a game that most certainly wasn't Crysis, and now, that information is proving true. Yerli wouldn't go into specifics about the game - we don't even know if it's an FPS - but considering Crytek's significant ability, we'll be excited to hear more when it's announced. Perhaps the team is waiting for E3 to drop the news, but either way, it'll be worth mentioning when the title, genre, and other details are finally revealed.

We do want to mention one final rumor regarding Crytek's console development: a while ago, a Crytek representative had supposedly said they have an "entire separate room" dedicated to the PS3 development of...well, something. So whatever they're doing, we'd really like to think the game is being simultaneously created on both the PS3 and 360; we couldn't bear a crappy 360-to-PS3 port.
