Crystal Disk Info

I have a new Hitachi 4TB hard drive that I'd like to have a look at with Crystal Disk Info, but it's not showing up. I have Crystal Disk Info 3.10.0, I figured I'd update it to the most recent version(6.0.4), but I've seen some negative feedback involving spyware with the installer(.exe) version so I downloaded the portable(.zip) version and noticed a couple files in it; Alertmail.exe and Alertmail4.exe, that I'm a little suspicious of.
Are these files part of Crystal Disk Info or can I delete them before running the DiskInfo.exe file?

You should be able to.

On the installed version, you usually have the choice to install that bloatware or not; there is a discussion here about that stuff going on now.

I don't know if people want to do this, but it IS a valid option.
Instead of getting the binary, you get the source, and compile it yourself.
That way, you know (after reading the source) that there is no monkey business going on.

I went ahead and installed the portable version from a zip file, no problems. You can see what's in the zipped package before you install it. The Alertmail was the only thing that looked suspicious to me. The Windows installer version installs OpenCandy ads.
