Hey guys, i never got a chance to try crysis and i want to maybe get a used copy.

Is there any real difference between the two? I figure i'll just get one of them. Is one better than the other? Does one have a larger multiplayer community?

You should play Crysis first to understand the story but Warhead isn't a sequel- it's a standalone expansion that takes place on the other side of the island with you playing a character called 'Psycho', it also has a separate multiplayer component called Crysis Wars which is quite good. Although warhead is good game they've downgraded graphics to improve the performance. I suggest you buy Crysis: Maximum Edition when it comes out.

+1,

Story wise Crysis is better, Warhead is more fun to play though.

I preferred Crysis over Warhead in all its single-player aspects. The multi-player however is better in Warhead, although Crysis' multi-player isn't that bad.

Crysis is longer, but Warhead is much more intense. You should get first Crysis and after that Warhead. You have to play both of them, there's no escape. ;)

I dunno, Warhead, it seems to be overly explosive, you would shoot 3-4 shots into a car, and it'd explode.

In short, pick what type of gameplay you prefer. Crysis is a bit more sniping/stealth while Warhead is more go in w/ guns blazing.

They're both about the same when it comes to single player, Crysis being a bit longer. As others said though, Warhead has a much better multiplayer with the ground-up Crysis Wars implementation. They're both cheap, you can find them for $20-30 for a total of $50 or so, or you can wait for the Maximum Edition as a few mentioned.

Crysis a lot more interesting than warhead. Warhead felt like a chapter and not a full game.

Do you have any proof for that?
I was pretty sure warhead had more tweaks and slightly better graphics.

For example I could play Highest settings w/o AA in Crysis.. the same settings in Warhead were too much

My experience was that both the graphics and the performance are worse. It uses some content streaming system that wasn't in the original Crysis and hurts more than it helps. The result is a lower draw distance for vegetation, and although the actual framerates are slightly higher, there is some very annoying hard drive thrashing when you enter a new area, even when there is plenty of memory to spare.

I liked the original Crysis much better as far as the SP component went. Better level design, better story and more varied gameplay. I never tried the MP.

I'm sure there is plenty of proof- I'm just too lazy to find one for you. However, if you take a look at the intro video of warhead and compare it with in-game graphics at Enthusiast settings you'll know they've downgraded the visuals.

i'm surprised they don't have the gold edition or whatever with both games... it's such a standard practice.

so i would wait for both to be packaged together for a low price.

Shooting cars + explosions != reality. It's like Michael Bay made a video game.

I liked Warhead much more than crysis. Warhead at least you weren't a camera with two legs like Crysis and to me it makes a big difference in the overall experience. In Crysis, your character always seemed secondary to the environment. Not always a bad thing, but unlike Far Cry, the environment seemed more controlling than the actual Character.
