Crysis Warhead DRM Deauthorization Tool Released

Now available on FileShack is the DRM deauthorization tool for Crysis Warhead.

The paltry 1.04 MB download allows owners of the Crytek-developed PC shooter to deactivate their installation of the game, freeing up one of its five activation slots.

As with the Spore deauthorization tool, launching a de-authorized install will prompt a re-authorization, and Vista users are advised to turn off UAC (User Account Control).

I like how it took EA this long to release the deactivation tool they promised back in September. How hard could it really have been? Fifa 09 (which was released in October) included a deactivation tool in the second patch which was released in November. http://news.bigdownload.com/20...nload-fifa-09-patch-2/

Funny thing is, it doesn't make me feel any different about the draconian DRM used in either of those games. They should have just removed the install limits altogether like 2K did with Bioshock.

The games should come with the tool.

Also, it took 2K almost two years to remove the limits on Bioshock.

no it was removed in less than a year and Bioshock hasnt even been out 2 years anyway.

I wondered what happened to this. After it took them so long after saying they would expedite it's development, I thought they just said it to appease people complaining since no one did much after launch.

Anyway I'm glad they did release it. I probably wouldn't hit the 5 install limit until at least 5 years, but good to know I can deauthorize as needed.

That's correct. The game was released in Dec. 2007, the install limits were removed in June 08.

Spore has been out for about 5 months already believe it or not. IMO, there is no excuse for how long it took to get this awesome "tool". The only tool here is EA.

😕

Well shit, I want some of whatever kind of drugs I've been on 😕

Too late for me already. I installed it first on my older rig and twice on the current one due to a XP re-install. I remember having exactly three installs but had some problems the first time I installed it with the activation( the exe simply wasn't available and had to do it all over again/not one of my finest hours heh).
Anyway I had both this and Crysis installed, both Stalker games and FC2 and I was experiencing stuttering in all of them. I re-installed all of them and the stuttering is gone but I had to use a no-cd as my activation limit for Warhead has been reached. Way to go EA!!

Yeah, it's pretty sad to be forced to download a no-cd crack because the DRM that comes with the game is flawed. I was reading on the Spore forums awhile back where some people were running into install limits after only installing once. The message that pops up makes it seem like you need to buy another license.

Well, I won't be buying another EA game on the PC until they get rid of SecuROM completely, so none of this really effects me. I do hope they someday realize it's doing nothing and ditch it. They released some decent looking games last year that I would actually like to check out.
