Crysis tweaks?

I have been playing CoD4 for the last few days and absolutely love it especially after setting the Shader mode to 2.0 which drastically improved my framerates.

I decided to give the Crysis demo a try and it lagged unbelievably. It defaulted to Medium settings but I was only getting 10-20fps @ 1600x1200. Even at 1024x768 I was still only seeing 20-30fps.

Does anyone know of a Crysis tweak that significantly improves framerate?

My rig:

CPU: AMD 4800 X2 (939)
GPU: 7900GT (256 MB)
Mem: 2 Gigs RAM

All stock.

well, I playing the Crysis demo on 1280x760 on my ATI 1950pro apg video card with the same memory you got 2Gigs ram. Amd 4000+ single core. I playing great , I think the difference is my ATI 1950pro has 512mb of memory.

Ahh thank you guys.

I am thinking about upgrading to an 8800GT. What % increase in fps do you think I would likely see?

Turning off the motion blur in crysis will probably net the biggest performance boost.
Create a txt file in the main directory named autoexec.cfg
And enter this line to disable motion blur.
r_MotionBlur=0

shaders is what makes the game look great with crysis though.

Interesting - one guide states to run Dx9 mode in Vista for a performance increase and you really won't be missing much. I do notice a HUGE performance hit anywhere there is snow or ice on the ground [ie: frozen boat at the top of the hill] - so maybe this will help. Really can't figure out why only ice/snow cause a massive slowdown on my system... 🙁

But if it's an unplayable slideshow, you may have no choice. Of all the settings, Shaders has the most impact on framerate.
