Crysis Problem

Ok so I realized I should probably put COD4 down for a while and finish Crysis since I never did play through it yet. So I'm going along through the jungles at my usual 25ish frames per second and I am at the point after the village where a helicopter has been shooting at you and you cross that high draw bridge.

All of a sudden the screen goes totally black and stays that way. I ctrl alt del and the process window tells me crysis has stopped responding. So i quit the game. I then start the game and before the EA logo can appear I get a BSOD and windows restarts. When windows restarts it tells me the graphics card drvier stopped responding. Now everytime I try to start Crysis it tells me Crysis has stopped functioning and the game is closed. LOL. Anyone hear this one before? The game is totally fubar'd, can't even start it. All I wanted was some *ahead of its time* entertainment... lol.

All my other games still work fine.

Well if I do have to reinstall, is there a way to access my saved games and retain them? No way I am going to start singleplayer all over.

You should be able to copy this folder: C:\Users\Green Gigs\Documents\My Games\Crysis\SaveGames before uninstalling.

And just replace it once you have re-installed. Some games ask you if you want to keep your saved games on uninstall, but it's probably safer to save, then replace, the folder yourself.

Oh wow...just uninstalled and reinstalled the entire game. It still says Crysis has stopped working before the EA screen can even appear. On a side note why does patch 1.2 act like it has frozen itself and take like 20 minutes to complete? It stalled like that the first time I patched it too, but the game still worked fine for weeks...up untill yesterday. Any other suggestions?

sure
move everything out of your documents\My Games\Crysis\ folder or just rename it.

if crysis then starts ok, then i guess some file in there is messed up.
most or all of your savegames are probably fine however and can be kept.

Nova that fixed it, thanks a lot! Once I removed that folder the game started up. I was wondering what would happen to those files in that directory but I see the game recreated them when I launched it. I was able to put back all my save games, so it must have been some other file in that mygames/crysis directory.

Glad to hear you got it running. Also glad to hear I'm not the only one struggling to make it through this game. 😛
