Crysis on the 360/PS3

article here

I like that he is concentrating on the PC version first and getting it right before they even think of bringing it to a Console...but I'll be stoked if they do bring it to the 360. The game looks fantastic.

I would think porting it to the 360 would not be that difficult as the renderers they are using are already DirectX.

The back and forth on this is almost as bad as the back and forth on whether or not MGS4 will be on the 360 too.

But since Crysis is DX10 and the 360 is DX9.5ish, it would take some work to do.
Doesn't Crysis already have a DX9 path? I'd assume, actually, that porting it to the 360 would be almost trivial.

From what I understand, they are shipping DX9 for XP and DX10 for vista...so I don't think it will be as hard as you are thinking.

Whether or not Crysis itself will come to consoles, I don't know. But I can assure you that some game based on the CryEngine 2 will come to the 360/PS3.

I'm glad that Crytek is focusing on the PC, and not worry about the consoles, at least for now. The last thing we need is more devs falling to the consoles, like id, Epic, Ubi (Rainbow Six and more) have.

It will. There is more money to be made on Xbox 360 and PS3 then on the PC.
It is a darned shame too, because the only thing that will probably hold back sales of Crysis on PC, is the relatively hefty system requirements to play it. Lots of folks still on IGP, G4MX, FX series, 9600 series, ect. that probably won't be able to really enjoy it, if it'll even run faster than a slide show on low settings.

The fact that it can come out for consoles doesn't mean anything if they dont actually do it, and when they do it wont look as good as the DX10 version, which is the real bummer, imo
