Really I did play it. Just at 800x600 all low settings except water and game detail(I think) at medium. I got mid 20's with at those settings. I tried at 1024x768 all medium setting and got 5fps. Slide show yes, but it is a really good looking slide show. Any way I would say a 6800nu is the absolute minimum gpu you can use to play it at all.

According to Crytek, a 9800p is the minimum, and 256mb of video mem. Your 6800nu only has 128mb and it still runs the game?

Yeap only 128mb and I played through the demo. A 9800p would be real bad even with more video ram. Maybe it can be played at 640x480. I did'nt look for that res. Although when I had everything on low I think I did get around 35-40fps so I guess a 9800p may play it at all low in the mid 20's.

I played the demo at 1280x1024, all low, I think I had one thing on medium and sound on high and got very low but playable frames on a 6600gt 128mb card.

Hah, I have 6800GT and I helf off as long as I could because I figured my videocard will be too slow for the game, but I finally broke and downloaded demo which I will be installing today. This thread doesn't inspire too much confidence though... 😀

I will try that tonight. It may have been a setting on medium and not the resolution that was killing my fps. What is the rest of your computers specs?

P4 2.8 Non HT 533Mhz FSB
1.5GB PC3200 RAM

There were some times where the game was near unplayable, but they were few and far between. It looks like crap though, just like my 5200 did in FarCry

lol had to be less than 1 fps on my 3500+/2 gig/6600GT @1900x1200.

Funny thing is, just seeing a tree get shot down and the branches actually be effected by the ground makes me happy. This kind of graphical quality
is a new era of gaming. COD 4 on the 360 took me aback also.

You guys think an 8800GT would get me to playable frame rates @1900 with the rig above?

I'd hold out for the new 8800GTS's if gaming at 1900 + is your thing due to your LCD's native res.

And that whole 256mb req thing is a suggestion. Anyone not remember the 256mb 9800XT getting pwnt hard by the 6600GT with half the mem in about every single game ? Or how about the more recent 256mb X1950XT pwning the 512mb X1900XT and 7900GTX reguardless of resolution in almost every situation ?

If a 256mb 9800P is the min then I bet my 128mb 9800P @ 450/792 would do just as well and better than a stock 256mb 9800P and prob even 9800XT 🙂
