I recently sold my 8800 GTS for $350 and now the 8800 GT comes out for 260 🙂. I sold it before crysis came out so I dont know what it playes like? can any of you with an 8800 please tell me if it plays at a smooth level and just play well in any game? Please specify if you have the Gt, GTS or GTX

Thanks, Kenny

Well, on my 8800GTS 320mb, I can play in DX9 at 1440x720 with everything on 'high' and shadows set to 'medium'. These settings are also playable for me at 1920x1200, but I prefer the higher framerate of the lower resolution (constantly 30FPS+ for the most part).

DX10 is another story. I need to turn down post-processing and shadows, and the game still lags even at 1440x720. DX10 looks incredible tho. It has better lighting, and it seems like there's tons more foliage, like individual blades of grass and stuff.

Really DX10 Crysis is going to require hardware on orders of magnitude better than even a GTX to be run at very high settings on a high resolution. Even patched, I can't see a game that looks that good running well on current-gen hardware.

I CAN run DX10 1280x1024 with everything on very high. the FPS hovers around 15-25fps. It IS playable. This game (in single player demo) is not that bad at these FPS numbers.

Runs great for me. Q6600@ 3.33 GHz, 4 GB Ram, 8800GTX@1920x1200 with all settings Very High but the following and here is Avg FPS:

Scenario#1 - all very high but shaders = low, shadows = medium, postprocessing = medium --> 34.65 Avg FPS over 5 mins

Scenario #2 - same as above but shaders = low, shadows = low, postprcessing = low --> 52.12 Avg FPS

Both scenarios taken in the same spot and prety intense firefights also, shooting down trees, etc. And the thing is I see NO difference at all in eye candy when taking those 3 setting to low. Game runs smooth as silk at 1920x1200.

Drivers Version = 163.69

Would have been nice if the next gen high end cards from Nvidia & ATI was out before the launch of Crysis. The chances are i will have finished the game before i get my hands on new hardware 🙁 Its never the same when you play through the second time.
