I have restored my XP Pro OS partition with True Image, reinstalled the game and all is well now.
I have no idea what the problem was, but oh well, stuff happens.

I'm a bit confused here, I played the Demo for a week or so in XP on this system and it worked OK.
So I got the full game the other day. I uninstalled the demo, and then installed the game, the install went smooth without any problems.
The game starts fine and the menus and all the pregame BS displays as it should. Once the game starts then thing go BAD. Lots of tearing, odd color artifacts, jagged display, the game is just not playable.
I'm running the most recent chipset/video/sound drivers.
I have tried all resolutions from 1024x768 on up, all setting to low, or medium, and it doesn't make any diff.

I dual boot this system with XP Pro sp2 32bit and Vista Buisness 32bit. The game installed and plays fine in Vista, but is a total POS under XP. And yet the Demo played OK on this same system under XP till yesterday when I uninstalled the demo for the full version of the game.

I have uninstalled rebooted, and reinstalled the game 2 times yesterday, and once more today so far in XP. No OC for the cpu or video card on the last 2 installs.
? ? ? ? ? ? what am I missing ? ?

system specs:

2gb pc3200
ATI Radeon X1800XL 512mb @ 650 gpu/ 800 memory
Soyo 24" Topaz-S native res 1900x1200

I'm starting think that the demo is very different from the retail in terms of coding. The demo played like crap on Vista for me, but the retail runs just fine so far, at the same settings. I decided to buy it only because all four cores were supposedly turned on for the retail.

I guess I should have posted this in the vid card forum, seems more related to a video hardware/driver issue rather than a issue with the game itself.

PM'ed a mod to move it.

I haven't done that, but I guess it is worth a try. Seems I will be uninstalling the full game again anyway.

my point exactly, must be driver related, or a very sudden hardware failure.

How different are your system specs from osage's?

not sure what the problem was, but it is fixed now.
I restored my OS partition from a backup image from a month ago. It is all good now. must have been something out of whack with the OS, or some kind of bug/leftover old driver/etc

gotta love True Image.....:D
