I have an eVGA 8800 GTS 512 meg (G92) with "high" settings @ 1024x768 and 4x AA. This is with DX9 under WinXP. Processor is a Q6600 @ 9x333 with 2 gigs of RAM. Oh, and this run is using the This seems low to me based on some benchmarks I have seen.

If I run the Benchmark_GPU.bat I'm getting the following result:
TimeDemo Play Started , (Total Frames: 2000, Recorded Time: 111.86s)
!TimeDemo Run 0 Finished.
Play Time: 45.89s, Average FPS: 43.59
Min FPS: 33.88 at frame 1975, Max FPS: 60.55 at frame 1024
Average Tri/Sec: -45631900, Tri/Frame: -1046921
Recorded/Played Tris ratio: -0.88

Now if I run the same benchmark using the DX9 fixed config files I get these numbers:
TimeDemo Play Started , (Total Frames: 2000, Recorded Time: 111.86s)
!TimeDemo Run 0 Finished.
Play Time: 72.99s, Average FPS: 27.40
Min FPS: 10.64 at frame 142, Max FPS: 34.61 at frame 68
Average Tri/Sec: -17811308, Tri/Frame: -649987
Recorded/Played Tris ratio: -1.41

So my question is: are these numbers in line with my hardware?

Unfortunately those are decent numbers. Bump down AA to 2x or turn it off and bump up the resolution for better gameplay.

Crysis + AA = NO!

I am one to always use high levels of AA but I have to make an exception for Crysis.

Try using "r_useedgeaa 2" -- this helps a lot.
1680x1050 mostly high cept shadows, volumetrics, and particles @ medium
Plays pretty smooth till the core level. Then you may need to make some additional adjustments.

Even with a overclocked Geforce 8800 GTX or Ultra ?

Sadly that's about all you'll get out of it. It's unfortunate that we cannot run our native monitor resolutions with this game and get playable FPS. My Monitor would be running 1920x1200 and that's just not possible with this game.

Fixed Link.

As for game itself, it is a typical game ahead of it's time. This is not new, it has been this way with many games. I'll just play it in a year or 2, when my hardware will easily pwn it on max settings. I will be able to buy the game for like $10-$15 to boot.

With me I can either run Crysis shaders high at 1024x768 and have it look terrible (due to resolution) at about 25fps

OR shaders on medium at 1440x900 and have it crisp and lovely at about 25fps.

Overall it looks better with the higher resolution.
