Crysis - FPS performance

Hey everyone --

Just wanted to start a thread where people could list their specs and the FPS they get in Crysis on whatever settings. I need to know whether I'm getting the type of performance I should.

Right now I'm running a Q9450 stock, with 8gbs DDR2 800 and one HD3870x2. I'm also running Vista 64 off a RaptorX HDD.

I put Crysis on HIGH settings with no AA and at 1360x1024 res -- and I'm getting between 35-40 FPS indoors and 17-27 FPS outdoors (at the low end if there's a lot of shooting and explosions etc.) Does this sound about right? Should I be getting better performance out of my current system?

8800GTS (320MB). Rest of rig when I did this is in the sig, except it only had 2GB of RAM. Last time I tried Crysis I got ~25 FPS at 1024x768 with everything on high.

I could probably bump the resolution a notch or two by strategically dropping a few settings.

I may do that when I install my new GPU tonight.

there is something definitely wrong. what that is, i can not tell you for i do not know. but my rig handles crysis better than that at 1680x1050 on high

I bounced around 28-36 fps @ 1680x1050 all high when I tried playing it. It's not a game that I'd be willing to play without editing the cfg. That motion blue makes my head hurt... and there's all kinds of tweaks to raise fps little by little. A good "High/Very High" config gets me 40ish fps.

I'm on an 8800gt.

I would think you should be doing better with FPS on 'high', with no AA, and at that resolution. I play at 1920x1200, everything at high/very high, no AA, with the rig in my sig and get a solid 30ish FPS.

I assume you have the latest drivers for your card? I noticed a significant increase in Crysis from the most recent Catalysts.

Sorry but WFT do you need 8GB of RAM for? Are they 4*2GB sticks? I bet you would get better gaming performance with 2 really fast 1GB modules.

On topic - my machine is awesome and Crysis performance is shit. Nuff said.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone.

Running latest Catalyst drivers and I've installed the version 1.2 patch and hotfix for Crysis.

To Atheus -- yes, 4x2gb sticks. Why? Got it all for a really low price.

System Manufacturer: NVIDIA
System Model: 132-CK-NF78
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6850 @ 3.00GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 2302MB RAM (4- 1 GB SLI sticks, but XP doesn't like that much and I don't want Vista)

2 of these in SLI:
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 512
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip type: GeForce 8800 GTS 512
DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC
Display Memory: 512.0 MB
Current Mode: 1920 x 1200 (32 bit) (60Hz)

Everything on high with 8(?) AA, crazy high fps. Never once stuttered. I play CoD4 (with everything on high) and get 90fps. (I think it might max out there.) I only know that because I used fraps, no fraps on Crysis but it was smooth as silk.

How much of a difference does 64bitVista make?

I've heard people before say they get a drop in FPS when moving from 32 to 64. I have 64 currently...might be part of my problem.

~20 - 30 fps, dropping to "teens" in some scenes. :p

Seems smoother with 6GB of RAM vs 3GB about a month ago.

DX10, 64 bit, 1680x1050. All Very High, with Shadows and Post Processing on Medium.

Not overly smooth, but playable nevertheless.

I run DX10 (Vista) at 1280x800 with all high details and no AA and I get roughly 25 - 50 fps, depending on amount of action.

Does anyone else's performance go to complete scat during the final battle? I have good performance through the entire game, but the end is awful.

On average I get somewhere near 35 FPS with a mix of medium and high detail settings @1440x900 rez.

Athlon X2 4200+ @ 2.6 ghz
2 Gb crucial ballistix DDR @ 520mhz 3-3-3-8 2T
8800 GTS 320mb @ stock

I really think I'm not getting everything this system is capable of but I can't find anything wrong with it. Oh well...

Be very careful posting FPS numbers with Crysis on high. Depending on what you are looking at, that FPS number is going to bounce around.

Is the 9800gx2 really that good sgrinavi? I thought the 9800s weren't much better than the 8800s.

skace, the 9800GX2 is basically two 8800GTS in SLI. Those numbers at that resolution are completely believable. They may actually be a bit low, if he's in DX9.
