Are there any quad core vs dual core benchmarks available for crysis? I'm wondering if it will be worth it to upgrade to a Q6600 G0.

TBH from what I've seen so far Crysis seems to be more GPU limited than anything. I know Cervat Yerli keeps stressing quad core is needed for the optimal experience but I really question that when even a 8800Ultra is struggling to pull 45fps @ 1280x1024 high details! http://www.tweaktown.com/artic...ce_analysis/index.html

My system is almost identical to yours (E4400 @ 3GHz, 8800GTS 320, 2GB RAM) and it seems the 8800GTS 320 will probably be the bottleneck, medium quality is all we can expect at playable framerates, even @ 1280x1024.

I doubt a Q6600 will change that. ;)

You running vista? I can play with high settings and decent framerates in xp. Also, try running the game in dx9 mode if you only have vista.

I know the GTS won't be able to max it out, but it can do better than medium :)

Nah I'm still on XP.

I have a 1680x1050 LCD, I think it starts running out of VRAM @ high details at this res. :(

Is your 8800GTS overclocked btw?

It runs out of vram at any res, I checked with rivatuner. Try turning of AA and put the res at 1280x800 rather than 1280x1024. I do have it overclocked some of the time, but it runs at high settings without being overclocked. Maybe we just have different requirements for acceptable framerates :)
