Crysis 2 leaked

Crytek has been alerted that an early incomplete, unfinished build of Crysis 2 has appeared on Torrent sites. Crytek and EA are deeply disappointed by the news. We encourage fans to support the game and the development team by waiting and purchasing the final, polished game on March 22. Crysis 2 is still in development and promises to be the ultimate action blockbuster as the series’ signature Nanosuit lets you be the weapon as you defend NYC from an alien invasion. Piracy continues to damage the PC packaged goods market and the PC development community.
As if they mention about Piracy on PC, where is the mention of the fact that one of their own developers has leaked it online intentionally to either A ruin the game franchise on the PC, or a plan/plot to try gain some attention and for more people to follow Crysis and possibly buy it when it's released very soon. Absolutely disgraceful.

Crytek Crysis was for PC only, they move to consoles and screwed their loyal pc fanbase just for more money, it's always the same now. Battlefield (EA) did it of course.

I tested the game and it's only using DX9 and no DX11 features in the build and it's buggy as hell as expected, awaiting the demo PC users should of received well before the f**king 360.

My brother is a HUGE Crysis fan on the PC, he has played the demo on his 360 and said it's ok, but nothing like the immense feel/gameplay/action and clarity you get on pc (if running a powerful rig) Trying to run Crysis on a console is asking for trouble, and your probably going to see some effects from that when the games released on 360, e.g.: Anti Aliasing issues, depth of field issues and textures looking bizarre.

I don't understand why the focus is so much on piracy of the PC games when it is quite easy to get directions on how mod a console, download game and put them on an external HD or burn them onto a disc.

As more developers move to console won't we be seeing even more piracy of console games?...then who are they going to make games for?

Mentioning piracy and damaged pc community at the end of that blog statement is ridiculous, where is their disappointment from they have a non secure game developing studio/developers/testers.

I mean they supposedly hired a f**kton of developers form all aspects of games to work on multiplayer? LIES!

That's about the stupidest thing I've heard. You want a fascist police state?

Nice fallacy...you got more?

The stupidest thing I have heard is doing nothing about theft of IP.
Slippery slope...

You're obviously not familiar with Incrementalism.

Pretty much the end goal of DRM is they have all the rights and all the control - you have none.

Sorry, my money, my hardware - you have no rights on my property.

I don't condone what has happened with Cyrsis 2, but this is more a case of an inside job than Pirates cracking the game.

Indeed.

I've seen ISO's for PS2's, PS3's, XBox's, and so forth all over.

The only reason I can think of right off for targeting the PC is that it might be a bit more difficult to Pirate on the Consoles and the Margins are likely higher.

I suggest you read what you buy.
If eg. you buy a DVD Movie.
You OWN the physical medium (the DVD itself).
You have LINCENSED the content (the movie)

You run off troll, if you only have ignorance and fallacies to back you up.

I think it just comes down to there are more people who will purchase it on consoles, so they still make a boat load of money so they do not care.
For every gamer with a modded console , there are probably at least two gamers without modded consoles who just buy the games.

It is a business and you look at where you can turn the most profit period.

It sucks for me, cuz i'm a pc gamer first and foremost.

If the morons would let me plug a kb/mouse into my 360, I wouldn't care so much.

Troll ? 🙄

Bringing out the big guns are we?

Do you even know what Trolling is?

1.) Fair Use - You have the right to make archival copies of your Media.

2.) First Sale Doctrine - You have the right to re-sell your Media (provisionally).

3.) EULA's are effectively non-enforceable.

These three items are relevant at least in this and other Countries, I don't know about yours.

Besides, who said anything about Movies, we're talking Crysis 2 here.

Other than that . . . well, we're just going to have to agree to disagree with each others opinions.
You're obviously supporting the intrusion of Government/Business on Personal rights, while I support the Personal rights of Property.

Good Day to your Sir.

Yea all this lame piracy talk. I want to know if the game is any good or not. I know SOMEONE here took the leap. I sense many kettles here.

Well with Virge's threats...this conversation was bound to get boring unless it turned into another piracy tug-of-war discussion.

All this thread needs now is a little religious fuel.

Did God ever say "Thou shalt not pirate...er, make complete digital copies of binary data and transfer it without permission?" Is it really stealing if you truly weren't going to buy it anyway? Anyone who claims this isn't a gray area is truly blind.

Oh, and the graphics fail to impress. The gameplay better be impressive.

You don't own squat. You're licensing the media. I'm all for whatever restrictive measures can be taken to protect IP.

if its anything like the 1st its prolly not worth the time to pirate it
let alone purchase it
mediocre shooter wrapped in a fancy box

Pirating is FAR more difficult to do on an 360 than it is to do on the PC. You need to physically modify the console, which means possibly spending money to buy parts, and spending a lot of time reading up on what needs to be done. I would guess that only a small margin of console owners are even aware that console games can be pirated, and even fewer have the desire and time to actually do the necessarily modifications.

With a PC all you need to do is download the game and you're done.

Which is why moving PCs towards requiring digital signatures authenticated with registered processors is a good thing. PCs need to be at least as difficult to breach as the consoles. In theory you could make them more difficult, since PC gamers replace their processors and other hardware more often than people replace their xbox with the next generation. By the time someone figured out how to crack the system, a new generation of processors would be out.

Just go with a system like Ubisofts DRM for any form of online games!
Yeah it sucks but it works!

Great, so I can buy a game and have it locked to a single PC. Just what I wanted. I already stopped buying games off steam because it doesnt play nice with having more than one PC.

I'm never going to be in favor of anything that makes my life more difficult as a consumer. Its up to them to figure out how to make pirates into paying customers. All too often the pirated product is the better product, and thats a recipe for disaster. Theyll never get rid of all piracy, but there's so much more they could do that they refuse to do that isnt just more DRM.

I still don't understand why people are making grand conclusions about the graphics based on DX9 shots and leaked betas. Isn't it possible that the final PC version with all eye candy will look good?

I am sure its going to look great with modes on the pc like the DX11 Path will look amazing relative to a console.

My main question is how linear will it be?

How wide open is the city?

Will controls be neutered with no leaning or shitty leaning?

Crysis 2 was developed specifically for stereoscopic 3D. Even the game play is more vertical and eyecandy like tessellation makes a much bigger impact in 3D by making things look fuller and rounder. The good news is that they found a way to do S3D that will work with any platform and monitor with only a 1-2% hit to fps. If you don't have shutter glasses and 120hz monitor/tv a cheap pair of anaglyph glasses will do the trick.
