Anyone know why the Nvidia Hi res pack is soo much smaller then the techpowerup pack?

Techpowerup Crysis 2 High-Res Texture Pack - 5.45GB!!
Nvidia - 1.65GB

Is one better then the other?

Hey guys long time reader first time poster (obviously). I downloaded and installed the hi res patch, and now my gun looks like random parts of scenery.... For instance if I'm in a house with wallpaper the gun looks like wallpaper after I run outside. Also, the game kinda locks up temporarily, although the sound keeps up.... Should I reinstall? Download from a different source, such as nviida? I have a gtx580 if it makes a difference at al...

You update to latest vid card drivers?

No idea if that will fix but updating it to the latest seems to be a common starting point.

Installed patches, can't launch game from Origin anymore (just get a black screen and eventually it stops responding). If I launch from file explorer I can get into a mission, but after about 5 minutes when a scripted event started it went black and stopped responding again.

Can I have 1.8 back please? It actually worked.

I downloaded the High Res pack from Techpowerup but it was 1.65GB. They just have the download page mislabeled.

Do you have anything logged in Event Viewer?

Everything maxxed brings my 5870 to it's knees at 1920x1080. It was a good run for this card, but it has finally showed it's age. Is ATI releasing southern islands around the time BF3 comes out?

Played around with it a bit.

This was taken from the point where you-know-who shoots himself in the head to the outside docks. I played around in that area for a few minutes moving around and looking at the cool new effects (water, tessellation, DOF, shading, etc.) Everything maxed in the game @ 1920x1080. The lowest point in the FPS graph shows 72.

I tried playing with vsync, but there was HORRIBLE mouse lag. The game should have been silky smooth at a constant 60 FPS. Is there a way to fix that?

Looked at the crysis forums, and I'm not alone. I've uninstalled/update video drivers. I've uninstalled MSI Afterburner. I've downclocked, overclocked, even clocked sideways once just for good measure. This patch has fucked me and multiple others as well.

Just to see if it was an issue with me or not, I booted up The Witcher 2. Ran without issue as expected. Then I just kept playing that... since, you know it actually boots.

I figured out why the game lagged so badly with VSYNC on in DX11 mode. It forced my monitor to use 24hz instead of 60hz. It's the same thing that happens with Crysis and Crysis Warhead. I can't believe CryTek still does this.

One way around it is to create a custom resolution in the nVidia control panel at 1920x1079 and let the game use that instead. If anyone knows a better way, let me know.

Greetings sir. Have you checked that Event Viewer thingy yet?

I don't mean to be THAT guy who says update your drivers, but have you updated your drivers?

I did figure out what that was. I see this when Crysis 2 errors out:

"Faulting application name: Crysis2.exe, version: 1.9.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000
Faulting module name: d3d11.dll, version: 6.1.7601.17514, time stamp: 0x4ce7b7b0
Exception code: 0xc00000fd
Fault offset: 0x0000afe9
Faulting process id: 0x1270
Faulting application start time: 0x01cc352f55ad3d8f
Faulting application path: E:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis 2\Bin32\Crysis2.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\d3d11.dll
Report Id: 9cbe5acf-a122-11e0-85d9-6c626de6bf05"

And yes, I did update drivers. I did an update to the latest official drivers, and it didn't help. Then I updated to the latest BETA drivers with a clean driver installation, and it still didn't help. I'm not sure if this d3d11.dll is directx related or not, but that's up to date as well. I checked and the file is at least there. Other than an uninstall/reinstall I'm not sure what else I can do.
