Crysis 2 DX11 patch details

Based on what I see in Metro 2033, DX11 is a huge drain on performance. Unless you have a tremendous setup I'm worried it'll run like a dog.

DX11 properly implemented will run better than say DX10. Civilization 5 with a GeForce card and proper multi-threading with the GPU for instance are huge. The tacked on DX11 to just add some effects and not taking full advantage of it are unfortunately what we're usually seeing now.

Yeah, tessellation is a power hog, but the other features of DX11 look good. I'm excited to see what they do. My GTX 460s are only about 85% used with the game maxed out at 1920x1200, so I have some power in reserve for these new features (I'm out of VRAM, though).

I was about to say your 768mb will probably limit you from running additional DX11 settings like tessellation.

It's too late for them to save the game with this. Releasing a DX11 patch months after the game is out is ridiculous and the fact is the game is forgettable after it's single player is beaten. Very few people are going to replay the game just because they released the patch.

Their only real chance of making people play it again is going to be when the editor releases. Both of these should have available at launch, but instead Crytek decided to invest the time into idiotic features like 3D which has not even caught on.

Honestly no. I quit caring about 1 day after the release. Plenty other run of the mill console ports shooters out there.

Haven't bought it and don't plan to until it's about $15 on a steam sale and only of they have a dx11 patch out by then.

I've seen at least 10 posts from you stating emphatically that you don't care about this game. If this is the case, why is it that in this sub forum and in VC&G you respond to every Crysis 2 thread stating that you don't care? It seems counter-intuitive to me to see someone spend so many posts essentially saying "I don't care". As you've stated, you don't even own the game.

On topic: I've stopped my replay on the hardest difficulty in anticipation for this patch. I think the game is quite gorgeous in some parts already, and I wonder just how much of a difference this patch will make. So, yes, some people still care. Those that don't apparently don't even own the game. 🙄

I know the article is old, but it seems like it's got a fair bit of useful information that appears to be legitimate.
I doubt it given we know the game doesn't scale past four cores:

He's just one of those PC gamers that feels slighted. He thinks he's a big man for pretending he wasn't disappointed, but he very much is apparently. Anybody who doesn't care won't even bother with these threads.

Misleading thread title - no actual information on the patch here, just information on DX11 implementation, which at this time is MIA.

Anyway, I would not be surprised for the patch to end up being either A) badly done, since its tacked on, B) not free, or C) only available as part of the new stand alone sequel.

Why do further development for something people have paid for? This is how EA, Ubisoft and Activision all operate.

IMO, the patch will give PC sales new legs. Almost like a re-launch, if its done well and has a impact ( i think it will), review sites will do new articles on the game/dx11 features. Build it and they will come 🙂

I'm hoping for a standalone expansion that includes all the features that were missing from the first game. Don't get me wrong, i love Crysis 2 (and have finished the campaign four times now), and the only thing i wish to see added are in-game, advanced graphics options. The rest, i.e DX11 support, should be thrown in so that we don't have to go another round with the whiny children and their entitlement issues.

Some good looking texture mods coming soon, with a DX11 patch (if its done right), the game should look much better than crysis 1.
The game already does look better than Crysis 1 IMO. I run the game on extreme settings at 1920x1200 and I find the graphics are great. The only things that don't look as nice are the trees, but I'll gladly take the 50% performance boost in exchange for ugly trees and a nicer looking everything else.

Other then lighting its worse then crysis 1, graphics wise, in every aspect.
