crysis 2 console gameplay video

I'm praying that this plays like the first one, with as wide open as it was. So far this one looks pretty awesome for a console game. I'll probably end up getting this pretty close to release day unless early reviews are just awful. They'd have to be pretty awful to turn me away though.

Well I like the guys comment about how the levels are.. commentator asks "are the levels wide open, or segmented".. crytek guy "they're segmented like the Crysis 1 levels were"..

I lol'd.

I also like how he admitted the city isn't an exact replica, but he gave his reasons why. But they mimic'd the city enough that you'll still know exactly where you are at. My guess is that the streets are accurate (I had read the city was built using real topology of the city), but the buildings "look a little different" but are the same height, etc.

However, I did see in one screen shot the New York Stock Exchange. I looked up real photo, and it was pretty damn accurate in comparison. Same amount of pillars, etc.

I like the fact that you can also hurt people when you grab them. Like break their neck. In Crysis 1, you could just pick them up and throw them.

Huh... didn't catch the part about the levels. I only watched the gameplay vids though 😛

I'll bet the important landmarks of the city like the NYSE, Times Square and all the stuff like that will be pretty much dead on accurate. Other buildings aren't as important to replicate and as he mentioned may even have 'legal issues' in replicating them. I won't know the difference though so I don't really care.

yea.. my guess is same height, same style architecture, just kind of a "knock off" of the original. No point in asking the owners of every single building if they can replicate it. Just dupe it and change it a little. When they get to the wall street area, the commentator knew it immediately. so it can't be that different.

i also like the cinematic of the helicopter crashing and spinning out of control, crashing, and you falling out and falling another story or two.

Looks good IMO. Of course, I'll be playing this on PC, but I'm pretty excited about this game. Crysis was really good for about 2/3 of the game, but the last 1/3 was lacking a little. Warhead on the other hand was pretty much awesome all the way through, so I have pretty high hopes for Crysis 2.

the game looks decent. But the graphics did not blow me away like I thought they would. Something other than MWF2 is always welcome.

well.. this is the xbox360 version.. the graphics and textures are toned down quite a bit so that it plays smoothly.

True, plus it seems the goal for CryEngine 3 is to approximate CryEngine 2 on the consoles, as opposed to really pushing the envelope. I imagine on the PC that Crysis 2 won't offer anything new compared Crysis. This is okay IMO because I'd like to see Crytek have to learn little but more on their gameplay/writing than just dazzling us with their engine.

just watching this gameplay makes me hope they will map out Tokyo and license the Godzilla ip. Man, that'd be frickin awesome. And it could easily be done. All they'd need to do is model Godzilla.

This looks sweet, I'm looking forward to it. I just started playing through Crysis again last weekend and I'm having a lot of fun with it.

Did they update the environmental destruction at all? It definitely looks better in these videos than it was in the first game, especially the part where the columns are being shot up, reminds me of the Matrix lol.

Yes.. destructability is completely dependant on the modeler. Some objects will be more destructable than others based on their importance, etc. I think I heard this is one aspect that the PC will have an advantage over because of the memory constraints of complex model alternatives.. The less memory, the less destructable things can be.

considering i thought crysis was boring and dull, i really don't have any excitement for this game.

to be fair i only played it for like 30 minutes and it was all single player.

firefox fixed your spelling

Makes sense. The destructibility of buildings in BF:BC2 on the consoles is pretty good IMO, so if they can't get much more than that on a console I'll still be happy.

Well, the destructability of buildings in Crysis 1, well some of them, shows that they can be pretty damn good. Some buildings, mostly irrelevant buildings, were just solid assets. Some of them though were very complicated packages.. seperate foundations, walls, ceiling panels, etc.

Yeah the places where they had destructible environments it worked well, although I always felt like the trees being shot over was kind of cheesy looking. Destroying the shacks was good fun though, it's always funny to pick up a dumpster and chuck it through a wall to kill some unsuspecting guys inside.

apparently the company that made the game HAZE is working on the multiplayer and they are going to be doing a closed beta soon. hope to get signed up for that.

with other big name franchises already dominating the console market, i'll be surprised if this really makes a dent in sales on console.

It could do pretty damned well if they advertise and hype it enough. Right now the only people who know of Crysis are the fairly hardcore PC gamer crowd, and those that wish they could afford to play it. A very large chunk, if not the majority, of the mainstream shooter fan probably has no idea... but it wouldn't take much TV and net ads to get the name out there.

i guess, but also the game is just very blah ... IMO of course. i just found it very generic and unintersting, but again, only played it for about 30 minutes before getting too bored to continue on.

and with other established franchises, and this not being an exclusive to either console, i just tihnk it is going to have a tough time getting a lot of attention from gamers.

I think a lot of people know of Crysis, and they know they can't play it. I know one of the big gaming magazines said the like 10th biggest villain of 2008 was your PC because it couldn't play Crysis. A lot of people have heard of it, and even without being a big name drop, marketing can do wonders. Not to mention if it looks amazing people will gobble it up.

And after watching the video, I am glad they included lean. So many FPS don't add that and it is bullshit.
