Great numbers, but it looks like the game has been completely consolized. It's just a shell of what the original Crysis was as far as graphics quality.

So far sure looks like it. I am hoping this is just a function of medium textures in the leaked game and that the final release will look MUCH better. The textures in all those screens posted by Grooveriding don't look any better than even Modern Warfare 2. Shockingly enough, the game can only manage 33.8 fps on an HD5770 at 1680x1050 0AA/0AF DX9. I am guessing consoles are running this game at ~ 30 fps too at a slighly lower resolution, except their graphics cards are 3-4x slower (if not more). Looks like "Crysis 2 was optimized for the PC" is a myth. :sneaky:

It looks like they underclocked the gtx560?

Exactly. The Default Clocks = what the card shipped as. Therefore, they actually tested the 560 Ti at its factory default clocks, not factory pre-overclocked.

Another game ruined by catering to garbage consoles.

What a shame.

In what way is it ruined? Other than the graphics the original Crysis was just an average FPS.

I really wish people would actually expand on things rather than just say something has been ruined because it is also being released on a console.

The only game that has come close is Metro 2033, and its overall graphical quality still falls short. If you want to post something you feel looks better, go right ahead.
I did not say anything has really surpassed it but Crysis 2 does not look any worse and those screens are not even close to the best it can look. tbh while the original Crysis looks great in spots it still looks quite poor in spots too.

Revisit the shots provided in this thread. The textures on the gun/hands, building walls, the ground, rocks, dock pillars all look blurry/washed out. Crysis 1 looks a lot better than that. Likely a result of medium settings in the leak.

I do not think Crysis in its stock form looks any better than Crysis 2. and once Crysis 2 gets its high res textures and other graphics options it will certainly be the better looking game overall.

In any case, there shouldn't even be a debate when comparing a 2011 sequel of a 2007 game. This just shows once again how consoles have held back PC graphics. :'(
I guess you are right - we should wait for the final judgement when the full game is released.

I am optimistic once DX11, full-out textures and AA are implemented that the game will look as good as the original. But I'm doubtful it will look better.

It may look mildly better to the point of needing still screenshots to show objects looking properly rounded rather than disjointed due to tessellation, but I doubt it will be a step-up to wow us the way Crysis did.

The leaked beta doesn't have very high settings nor does it have DX11. I would wait to judge the graphics after the DX11 patch comes out.

for those that keep thinking the original game is some flawless thing of beauty with high res textures and crisp details you need to think again. here are just a few shots that show even on the highest settings it is quite ugly in spots.

sorry these are only 1024x576 as these parts of the game are even uglier at full screen(1920x1080) where you can really notice the low res textures. unfortunately I cant find a pic upload service that doesn't resize them, grrr.

I agree that cryengine2's weakness has always been indoor areas. Whereas outdoor and some outdoor building structures and machines as well as water and sky are outstanding.

It's important to remember that it is meant to be a true to life engine, and tries it's best to render that realism whereas most games we play these days are not trying to reach photo realism.

Crysis 2 looks to be disappointing to me because now that it is set in NYC they had the opportunity to bring urban visuals to the level of outdoor quality seen in Crysis. But these shots of the game show that not happening imo.

This thread is about as full of made up opinions as other threads involving unreleased video cards and speculations about speed and prices.

The leak is a alpha/beta build. It crashes often, it's not optimized, we don't even know if it contains the high res textures the game will come with on PC. We don't know if enabling the higher graphical settings within the game is actually enabling higher graphical settings. Lets wait until the final product is out before we start evaluating the game and casting stones.

I'll have to play it again in the evening, but I don't remember it looking that bad, is this on very high?

True, but I'll buy it anyway.

yes that is DX10 very high settings at 1920x1080. if the game out today I doubt anybody would be all that impressed. even when it came out back then it had horribly outdated looking inside environments and objects.

While indoor textures are poor at times, it more than makes up for those with how it looks like outdoors.

Seeing as you are going to spend a lot more time indoors, indoor graphics will probably be a lot better than Crysis 1.

one thing i loved about Crysis was the moddability - stuff like Rygel's gigabyte texture packs + Time Of Day mods totally made the game engine shine - made the repeat factor so much more higher

great graphics may never replace good gameplay, but it sure can make the time you spend on the game completely immersive

Not sure why everything thinks these graphics are 'crappy' and 'run of the mill'. Based on the screenshots linked in this thread, I'd say it looks just great. No need to mention that most likely they will add a whole lot of other options of the shipped version of the game to enhance graphics.

newegg prices from a quick look, in the search for each of them.
580 (520$) > 6970 (320$) > 570 (350$) > 6950 (240$) > 560 (249$) >

Is it just me or is the 570 overpriced for its performance in Crysis 2?
Same with the 560? They both get beat in performance by cheaper amd cards (even if its only 10-30$).

6950 seems like alot of value for its cost, seeing as their a big step in performance down to the 560 which costs more. Then considering that you can unlock the shaders with a bios flash...

6950 the best buy for the crysis 2 gamer? on a budget.

Your using the absolute lowest price AMD cards including rebate , but your not doing the same for Nvidia cards.
example : Gtx 580 , 30 dollar promo code and another 20 rebate= $444 included limited lifetime

We also have not seen the dx11 hit. This is where the tesselation slider that is in the new CCC, might be handy ?
Don't know, is the default setting, a null setting ?

edit: have not seen much talk about it, but found a picture :)

I just want the original Crysis Graphics Shown before Crysis 1 was even out... I remember looking at the leaves, and remembering how realistic it looked with the sun reflecting off those huge leaves like rain just fell upon them... and how awesome it looked. Then I was highly disappointed when I saw the actual game in Highest settings...
