Just read that today. I am surprised at how close the GTX260 is to the GTX460 under Gamer and Advanced settings. It's not until they enabled Hardcore settings that the 460 started to barely pull away. With a mild overclock, it looks like the stock 260 can easily break 30 fps (which got 27.1 fps at 1920x1200). Not bad for a card which cost around $150-160 almost 2 years ago!!

Also, there is a significant performance jump from the 460 to the 560. Perhaps, those slight architectural improvements in the GTX5xx line are coming into play. Too bad they didnt' specify if this was the 768mb or the 1GB version of the 460 being tested.

I bet there will be at least a 30% performance when the DX11 patch ships (and that's probably before tessellation is turned on).

Either way, 2011 graphics killer of the year will be BF3. Considering the graphics of Crysis 2, there is no reason something like a GTX260/4870 shouldn't max it out at 1920x1200.

I wish there were articles like this for every game.

The optimal playable settings section is awesome!

I have card X, play it like this.

I see nothing that would suggest a 560 is worth twice as much as an Overclocked GTX 460.

Nope, that i7 destroys whatever horse you're riding.

Go see for your self, run a bench with fraps.

Nope in games a i7 is only 400mhz ahead of my cpu clock for clock and the benches were run with a i7 @ 3.2. You do the math.

Now a crossfire/sli setup is different.

And raven the purpose of this thread was to discuss the benchmarks not my cpu vs i7.
Discuss the thread topic or please stop posting in my thread, thanks.

Oh yea, because you do that so well on other threads

Whatever, going to bed.

See if you pull out the guts to actually run 3Dmark11 then, gnite.

Oh yea, P.s. quick question...

How come you are always talking about GPU this, AMD that, nVidia this, yet I don't recall seeing you once posting in the PC gaming forum...Kind of ironic

This combative posting style is not productive, it is inflammatory. Please reconsider your approach.

Well ya, value wise, the 460 is better. The cheapest on Newegg is about $150 and 560 is about $230. So 50% more cost for 30% more performance. Then again, an HD6950 is almost 2x as fast as a GTX460 for $250. So from a value perspective, the 560 is not great for this game.

Still, a 560 can also overclock to 1000mhz!

Unless the 6950 plays it much slower, but in all fairness I havent seen and AMD benchmarks yet.

Mabe this is the direct x 11 version of Crysis 2 they are running? I read the article it said nothing about which version they are running. Did I miss something Russian?

Gentlemen, gentlemen, take it easy. No reason to argue about this when we haven't seen any Crysis 2 CPU benchmarks.

I'm seeing more spread between the $180 cards and the $250 cards than I've ever seen before. Since when is a 6950 25% faster than a 6870? And the 570 72% faster than a 460? Crazy. Either something's wrong with those benches or Crysis 2 is hitting a huge bottleneck in the cheaper cards. Memory clock, perhaps?

Crysis 1 doesn't show nearly that much of a spread: http://www.anandtech.com/show/4137/...-6950-1gb-xfxs-radeon-hd-6870-black-edition/5

A gtx460 1gb is 170$ and the gtx560 is 230$ and if your smart you can get one for 210$ shipped. 170$ x 2 = 340$

If you're smart you can get a gtx 460 for 150-160. Not sure where you're finding a gtx 560 for $210 but then again I wasn't talking about momentary pricing anyway.

Well the Crysis 2 can only be played in DX9 until they ship the DX11 patch. So the testing wasn't in DX11 yet.

I thought you have stumbled upon TechSpot's Crysis 2 preview? I went overboard saying the 6950 is 2x faster. But it's still a solid 60% faster than the 460.

The 5770 is almost as fast as a stock 460 in their testing at 1920x1200! But the 560 is 38% faster than the 460. Perhaps GF110's z-culling and FP16 performance improvements are coming into play over GF100. I am not sure exactly. We'll have to wait until the official game is released and NV had a chance to release more optimized drivers. At the same time GTX570 holds its own against the 6970 and 580 easily dominates. So we can't even say that this game benefits AMD either. Looks like slower cards just run out of steam.
