This game looks quite interesting, i've read the game looks beautiful but that the engine it runs on is badly designed, however i have a high end rig using a ATI 6970 2GB graphics card so should be fine in that respect. Another thing that worries me is that this game is designed for nvidia physx, i've seen the water effects running down the stairs, wall etc and the benchmark demo for the game, i've read that if you have a ATI graphics card you don't get any of these effects, is that true? Is so i think i'll give the game a miss.

I have an ATI card and I didn't notice those effects missing. I think you need to have Nvidia's PhysX drivers installed even if you don't have an Nvidia card. One of the things is that it uses A LOT of particle effects, so sometimes having lower settings is necessary, as well as V-sync on.

Cryostasis is an extremely atmospheric and slow game, but it is amazing. Don't expect to be able to just plow through it, as it takes time to get into the story and to progress. This game is a story; take your time and listen and watch it.

All in all, I thought it was well worth the money.

Again, I can't express the kind of mindset you need to be in to play this game; don't go in with a Doom or COD mindset, go in with a Planescape: Torment or an adventure game mindset.

gothamhunter many thanks for your advice. I'll take my time with this one as it's more story driven.

About installing the Physx drivers i wasn't aware you could install them while using the ATI catalyst drivers, wont it conflict?

Also how is the graphics in this game? I'm not expecting Crysis maxed out graphics but was thinking maybe along the lines of STALKER COB with the complete mod?
