Crusader: No remorse

It was awesome, I played it when I rented a Sega Saturn along with three games for one week, I ended up playing No Remorse for about three days without touching the others. And I found a review of it for the Sega Saturn version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZa8qvhy8_s

There's a PC version apparently, I never knew that. If GoG can get it, I'll buy it in a heart beat.

Nope; there's not really anything similar to Crusader - the closest thing I could think of would be something akin to Diablo II - and that's not anywhere close . . ..

And of course, as everyone else already stated, they were some awesome games.

Fallout Tactics maybe? That's still very old though.

I think there's some more recent WW2 game as well.

There's plenty of older tactics games out there though, just go through the catalog of them.

Based on the youtube link (wasn't familiar with Crusader), I would think Shadowgrounds and Shadowgrounds:Survivor is somewhat similar.

Funny this thread should pop up, I started playing No Remorse in DosBox again. I'm just glad my old CD works. Never got around to playing the sequel (No Regret).

Such a great game and I love the cinematics ("Hey Tin Man!").

Origin created such great games. Another one I adore is called Cybermage, which hopefully I'll begin playing again when I have the time.

Both of which are very fun games 🙂

The gameplay in shadowgrounds really isn't very deep. It's all go to point A, kill bad guys, go to point B, kill bad guys, lather-rinse-repeat. And the weapons don't require any kind of strategy to be used effectively. Just point and shoot.

That said, they are still fun games (and cheap too), but they really don't come close to touching the depth of the crusader games.

Well, the first Shadowgrounds has a different approach to guns than the second one. In the sequel all guns are useful.

As for depth, I think your memories are playing tricks on you 🙂 Both Crusader games weren't very deep - they were original back then, but not deep. You ran, used switches, read emails for passwords and some story tidbits and shot everything that moved. Shadowgrounds has somehting similar - the shooting's a lot more fun imo. And it's more of a shooter than the Crusader games. And not really THAT similar - but those games are fun and look OK. And are cheap. And run on Vista / Win7 😛

Man I loved those games. I felt so smart the first time I figured out you had to blow up the power plant before taking out a shielded camera.
