Newegg is out, they raised the price anyway...it was as high as $159! Now only $119 at geeks.com. I got mine up and crunching yesterday to replace a P4 3.2, so far it seems to be smoking that CPU.

Btw I assume you meant a Sempron 2800?

Well, even a Sempr0n 2800+ isn't going to crunch DC like my P4 3.4EE system....no where close. :)

OR you could get a cheap AM2 X2 3600+ with a motherboard and 1GB of RAM for <$200, run the SMP beta client, and rake in over 500PPD in F@H. Dual-core systems are where it's at for DCers.

Yeah, Dell lists them funny, but clock speed. 1.8Ghz Sempron, 2.0Ghz A64, etc.

Spartan Niner, that would cost you a lot more than 200 dollars, for those the mobo, CPU, and RAM. Not to mention you'd still need a case, PSU, hdd, DVDROM, and a video card at a minimum. So have spare parts laying around, but others don't. :p

What are the power requirements for a processor like that? Anyone know? Just that PSU, a mobo, a hd, and a very simple video card? Hmmm. I need to find out what PSU that would need.

Depends if it's just a cruncher or daily use. For a 24/7 cruncher you don't need much of a PS, decent quality 350W and up will work just fine.
