I'd like to see a #! meta package added to the Debian repos. There's no reason that can't be easily done, and the community can stay on to support the package.

I liked the simplicity and understated elegance of #!

The primary aim of the CrunchBang project is to produce a stable distribution offering the best possible out-of-the-box Openbox experience. To achieve this goal, CrunchBang pulls many base packages directly from Debian's repositories, which are well-known for providing stable and secure software. Packages from CrunchBang's own repositories are then customised and pinned to the system to produce what is known as the CrunchBang distro.

I was just looking through their repo. I'm not seeing much that couldn't be taken care of with some build scripts that automagically configure a Crunchbang desktop. all the packages I saw are already in Debian, they just need to be #!d.

I don't know what Debian's policy is regarding a specialized setup, but having a nicely configured openbox setup would benefit the distro. It could also be taken care of as a third party repo, but it would be nicer having it in Debian.

Might be a fun project. I don't think I'd want to do it officially, but it would make a good learning experience. I'd be afraid of dicking something up, and screwing up people's machines. I don't even know how to build Debian packages :^D
