OK, so my wife wants for us to go on a cruise to the bahamas or some tropical island of her choice. The only thing im worried about is that last time i went deep sea fishing, with about 1-2 meter waves, i was vomiting for over 4 hours. So, u can see my concern for going on a boat for 7-9 days. Just wondering for those that have been on a cruise, that get seasick, if it is OK and that i wont be regretting this trip during those miserable days.

The first day I felt some rocking, but it's very slight, and I hardly noticed it at all after the first night. Take some Dramamine or another antiemetic just in case, but you should be fine.

bahama waters are beautiful, and you barely feel the boat rocking at all. unless its going at like 25-30 knots. then you'll really feel it. if anything take some anti-motion pills. you'll be fine. you'll have a blast

A cruise is nothing like deep sea fishing. If you couldn't see the water, you'd hardly know you were at sea.

The cruise ships are so large that you will hardly notice the movement. That being said however, I did get seasick on my honeymoon on a cruise. But, it only happened when we were leaving ports at dinner time. And after 30 minutes I felt fine again. Even with the sea sickness I would still go on another cruise.

BTW, I'm one of those people that ALWAYS get motion sick.

Edit: We also went through a thunderstorm while we were out there.. and even that wasnt bad. It happened at night and it made for great sleeping.

You can also get those pressure point bracelets. Get them before you leave b/c they will probably be more expensive onboard

But you are talking about boats that are 1000' long and displace 100000 tons, and they've got stabilizers and such on top of that. It takes a quite a bit to get them rocking noticeably.

I went on a cruise this summer right when those huge hurricanes hit Florida.

Those waves were pretty rough and we were swaying big time. Our dinner partners have taken cruises before and they could not believe how rocky it was.

I almost got sick at one point but the dramamine helped me out. Once we got out of hurricane range, everything was smooth again.

it won't be as bad as going on a fishing boat, but it can get a little tipsy if you encounter rough seas.
when i went on a cruise my friend, who gets carsick easily, just used a doctor prescribed patch with medicine in it. she put it behind her ear. the only thing that sucked is you can't drink alcohol with it.

hey, i'd give up one week of drinking to spend a week with my wife and not have to puke for 9 days straight

not going there, althought not recommended, you can. But it is some very potent stuff.
