I knew my brake pads were getting thin - this thing (1993 LandCruiser) eats them for breakfast. But I've been planning to rebuild the whole front axle for the past few weekends, and the brakes at the same time. But it keeps getting pushed back due to weather, ex changing her schedule, etc. So on the way home from work today I hear this nasty grinding noise
Put it up on the jackstand and discover one of the pistons is siezed and has the pad down to bare metal. Fvck Good thing I was planning on replacing the rotors at the same time - already have those.
Tried to get the caliper off to see if I could free the piston and twisted off a 3/8" extension. It's dark, it's raining, and I'm already breaking things, so the hell with it. Arranged to borrow a car for tomorrow. But I doubt I'll be able to get a new/rebuilt caliper before thursday or friday.
