Damn that's crazy. Glad to see you made it out okay..Must have been a day like no other.

Thanks. When I turned around after finishing, I thought this was one of the best moments of my life. But instead it turned into a nightmare. I don't like talking about what happened, it's just all sad. Training with some amazing people has been healing and running it next week, will provide some closure and be one of my best moments.

well i hope you are safe for the rest of your life

are you in any of the videos of the bombing?

Thanks. Not sure if I'm in any videos b/c I've promised my gf not to watch any of it. There is a rooftop photo of the first blast and you can see me standing at the Finish Line.

Why didn't you mention this before?

You responded. Like you have told me, you don't need to keep adding.

Walk the talk you try to walk if you want honest answers.

 Yes, b/c when people ask questions, I shouldn't reply back. For someone who derails everyone else's thread to brag about their mundane life, it's hilarious that you're so butt hurt.

I mentioned it in the thread that was created that day on the event. And a thread was created about me in H&F about it. And I didn't really want to talk about it then and haven't for a long time. You think seeing what I saw was something I would be excited to talk about? Sorry but some of us try to keep some privacy and don't divulge their whole lives here.

I am really not, I am just talking about the irony.

Even you want to be like me.

Depends on the ship. Oceania has some of the top 'mid-sized' ships out their. The companies like Seabourn / Paul Gauguin / et al dominate the 'small-ship' market.

For 'families' I'd say the larger the ship the better. For couples, the smaller definitely.

One of the good things about Oceania is they have some really nice rooms at the top level plus long journeys rather than port to port and back again. Oceania / Carnival / Royal Caribbean are customers of mine. There are people paying like $10k+ a week on some Oceania ships and they never leave the boat.

I was on the Carnival Ecstasy this last cruise. One of the oldest (may be the oldest in their fleet at a 1991 christening by Kathy Lee Gifford :) ), it was still in nice condition, but dated. Also although a smaller ship, there were too many children on this sailing to enjoy it if you were planning a 'couples only' event. If you wanted to use either of the hot tubs on the ship, they pretty much had 5-10 children in them even past 2am. Even at the only outside drinking bar (there was an outside 'soda' bar as well), some plopped their toddlers/elementary kids on the few seats at the bar available.

That said, I think if I was on this boat with my family; the kids would have a lot of fun and the girl and I would take a day out at Atlantis or one of the hotels in the Bahamas for the day. For the cost, (this cruise was a free bonus for me though); I have known people to get even 5 days on a Carnival cruise for around $200. The drink prices were not that terrible. I had a 'free drink' card, but they still have you sign a receipt. My beers were $5.25 a piece. Many ordering cocktails were also paying about $5-6 a drink. They also have very large drinks at a great value. They do load the ice in drinks that come with it though.

A good site if you don't live by a port is http://www.lowcruiseprices.com you have to pick a date and journey and get contacted back, but they are legit.

They work with a variety of cruise lines. You tell them who you are, where you live, where you want to go and when; how many people/cabins you want, the cruise line you want, if you need airfare and any other comments.

When we used them, we wanted free drinks (alcoholic too), a different embarkation time, to reserve some of their key rooms for our two events, and some other perks.

They worked it out with the cruise line and it worked out for us.

Two semi-helpful posts, you feeling ok, bro?

Another helpful site to find cruise deals, sort of line priceline of the cruiseworld is http://www.cruisecompete.com/

Adults only resorts - never been on a cruise. Zero desire to be around a bunch of kids while on an adult vacation.

Sounds miserable to me.

AHh, cool, thanks for the recommendation. Usually I just go through carnival and book for Dec/Jan when I can take my fiancee and we can both go on a 7 day for like $1000-$1500 combined...

I wonder what they will say if I say "must have a keg of Founders - Breakfast Stout on tap at one of the deck bars" :)

They are really on another level than Regent, Seabourn, Paul Gauguin, etc. Less inclusives, and they actually offer inside cabin stills (at least on some ships.) Voted best food of any line though. Main reason I end up on them is the long journey stuff- The goto some really out of the way places you can't get to on a mass market line. Other luxury lines do it too, but they are one of the cheaper ones.
