I didn't request double-sided replacements but, I just received a box of 4x1GB Ballistix (double-sided) DDR2 modules from crucial RMA. :)

Ya, I sent the stix today. When I called the lady was polite and said that there was a problem with the 97432 batch number and she would immediately ship me the double sided sticks once the ram is received.

I just had my 4th pair of Ballistix go out on me. I'm on the phone with Crucial right now RMA'ing them. They are very helpful. The lady says she has never heard of bad batches.

She say alot of the RMA's coming back are testing fine. The biggest problem they are finding is that people are NOT manually setting their timmings to 4-4-4-12 and 2.2v. If you do not set your ballistix to these exact specs - THEY WILL BURN OUT!

I was actully running my ram at 2.0v for 2 weeks when I dropped back down to 3.2 OC. Then they had problem. Coinidence? I'm now back up to 2.2v.

Just and FYI.

don't the ballistix have a "profile" that allows them to run 400mhz 5-5-5-12 @ 1.8v? and 333mhz 4-4-4-12 @ 1.8v?

at least thats what CPU-Z tells me..

and there shouldn't be a reason for them to burn out if u run them at 400mhz 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1v

That's what I thought but that is not what Crucial CS said. I even made a point asking her undervolting them made them defective and she said YES definately. I was even reading this thread to her on the phone.
