Crucials in raid - no trim

I am considering a couple of the crucials for a raid0 install - I have read conflicting information though on the crucials need for trim as - supposedly - the crucial GC is not very aggressive.

I have also read posts about the crucials being just fine in raid as long as they are given some idle time - similar to what I do now with my Vertex 2's.

Anyone have any insight on this??

My opinion is that as long as you keep some empty space, and some idle time, modern drive garbage collection is not an issue, even on the Crucial drives which give GC low priority.

I'll second that emotion.

Because of one circumstance or another (different controller that doesn't pass TRIM or drives in RAID0) I've never really got to use TRIM but it's never made a long term difference in drive speed.

BUT, I've never used more than 50% of an SSDs space which allows plenty of "working room" for the drive's recovery.
