I was over my friends house yesterday, and i left my aim on with away message before i left, i noticed that i wasn't online at my friends house. So when i got home later, my screen was just black, and didn't come back when i moved the mouse lol...So i tried rebooting it and it kept freezing at the win2000 boot screen. I had a similar problem with my old computer and it was the cheapo generic ram! So i have 2 sticks, 1 kingston value 256mb, and 1 crucial 256mb. So i did a long boot, it counted my ram up to 131,***! So it was definitly the ram, I took the one Kingston out thinking it was that, tried to boot, nope. Tried the kingston in same slot, surprisingly up and running! I never had ram crap out after a couple months of use. Weird...So i called the crucial support line, thinking in my head what am i going to say because i purchased this stick off of anandtech lol. So i just said my mom ordered it and i don't know the customer number and what not, so i just have to send it in and wait for it to get back, not too bad. I thought they were going to refuse to take it back!

I just RMA'd 2 sticks of Crucial. Don't know what's up with that, never had RAM go bad on me before. (Except the stick I stepped on. :()

They counted it as 3rd party because i didn't have a customer number, but i'm glad that i'm not stuck with it! Crucial gets a thumbs up soo far.

Crucial has a lifetime warranty, AFAIK. I wouldn't think it would matter whether or not you're the original purchaser of the stick. Good luck w/it, though. :)
