i hear that crucial is the Klipsch of RAM. but what really is the difference between crucial and and other ol' ram like kingston.

Crucial just plain old has the best performance to price ratio. There are better memory brands out there but not at that ratio.

Many companies might sell "Micron" memory but you don't know whether you are getting true sticks from Micron or just the memory assembled on generic PCBs. sometimes you can get micron made micron sticks, that aren't crucial. it still has the left sticker from a crucial stick but not the one on the right. i'f you've seen a crucial stick you understand
