I've read some threads on how generic ram didn't work when mixed with other ram.

I'm thinking about buying generic ram today...

I currently have a MSI K7T266 Pro Motherboard with 256MB PC2100 Crucial DDR Ram and I'm thinking of adding another 256MB of DDR ram, only generic (I don't want to deal with all the shipping and want to buy it locally for a low price). Does anybody know of any problems? Thanks.

If you can buy PC2100 local for 40.00 then I am surprised. Since you alread have a stick of Crucial, why not order another and get free UPS blue shipping (40.00)? In addition, if you are running some memory tweaks, the generic could possibly crap out on you. I would rather avoid any potential problems and stick with a proven winner.

Yup, PC Club has it for 40, although two weeks ago, when I was first deciding on whether or not I wanted to buy it, it was 35. :(

I agree with John ,mixing good ram with generic ram can cause compatiabilty problems and being you are using high quality Crucial it makes sense to buy another stick of Crucial ram.

:)
