I just RMA'd some Geil PC4000 RAM as they were giving me MemTest errors at any overclocked sppeds. So I threw in some old sticks of Crucial PC2100 to keep me going.

Well, I currently have them running at DDR400 sppeds, without any MemTest errors! I haven't found the top end yet. Is this unheard of?

I've heard of systems running PC2100 at DDR400 (PC3200) speeds, but they are few and far between.

What voltage are you running the RAM at?

DDR voltage is at 2.85v. I just topped out at about 406Mhz.

It would be helpful if you posted the chip markings for us.

Memory timings? 1:1?

I don't know what timings you are running, but it's very nice! :)

Might rip open my dads machine. I bought a stick of PC2100 from Crucial for my rig which my dad now has. Wonder if it can beat my TwinMOS Winbond CH-5 PC3200 which is stable at 210.

Elcs: I would be interested to know. Keep us posted.

Here is what I am currently running them at. They were stable up to 406DDR, but to keep my CPU speed maxed out (282 x 12 = 3.4Ghz), I have to use the 2/3 multiplier (282 x 2/3 = 188fsb for the memory = 376DDR).

By the way, everything has been at 2.5, 4, 4, 7, 4 timings (including the 406DDR). I haven't tried to tighten the timings (yet).

Very nice! :)

BTW, just curious, what happened to the GeIL PC4000?

The Geil PC4000 ran fine at the rated DDR500 speeds, but I got MemTest86 errors at anything over 510. So in order to keep my CPU at it's max, I had to run the Geil at 5:4.

Actually the Geil is my second try at PC4000. I also had a pair of Kingston HyperX PC4000. They gave me MemTest86 errors at anything over DDR506.

In addition, both the Kingston and the Geil seemed to give me some stability issues. With the Geil and Kingston, I would get Prime 95 errors at anything over 3.2Ghz (regardless of the DDR speeds/timings). So at the time, I figured that was just the top end for my CPU. However, I am now at 3.4Ghz with the PC2100 Crucial and I have not had any errors with Prime 95 all day.

Very strange!

Interesting!

What are you running? I bet it's not the system in your sig! Hehehehehehehe ;)
Saying it's running @ 3.4 Ghz it's a P4. But what mobo?

Are you gonna try GeIL again? Have you tried OCZ?

Will be checking it out soon.

Upon looking.... on the Crucial sticker, I see BH11185 1R .... Just throwing up a theory here, BH-5 chips?

EDIT: If you find a Micron sticker on your stick, check out http://download.micron.com/pdf/guide/modguide.pdf page. I checked and my sticker says MT16VDDT646AG-265B1. Pc2100 speed.

EDIT2: Posted, into Windows, 166mhz 6-3-3-2.5.... dont know how stable it is but it looks it.

I took my Crucial PC2700 to 190MHz with decent timings (I can't remember the exact timings, but I think it was something like 2.5-3-3-6). I didn't try to push it farther than that. I think it would have gone higher, though.
