I have two sticks of 256mb Crucial PC2100 DDR Ram (2x 256mb = 512mb) ... I kind of regret getting them because i just found out that i could have gotten the same CRUCIAL PC2700 DDR ram for the same price..

Of course i'm gonna OC my ram, but should i be contempt?? OR should i sell these puppies and get me some Samsung PC3200 Ram?? Don't know what to do...

I have one stick of 512 mb of that ram and it overclocked amazingly. Never problems. I turned everything back down though because the heat from my processor was too much for my current fan setup.

what kind of cpu do you plan to use it with? my two sticks of crucial pc2100 can't oc for crap. i have them running at 133 but thats their rated spec, so i'm not complaining. if you want to do some serious overclocking, ie with a p4, get some corsair xms.

My situation exactly. I bought my two 256mb sticks of Crucial PC2100 back in July 2001, when it was still "new". They don't OC for crap. Increased voltage, lowered timings...nothing above 137 or so, which isn't even worth doing.

But on the flip side, they are running at 133MHz, CAS2, 4-way interleave, timings maxed-out without complaint. *shrugs*

Basically, it boils down to this: if you have an "overclocking mobo" and it's a 266 chipset as opposed to a 333 chipset, buy some PC2700 or better and OC the crap out of it.

IMO, RAM prices are too high rightnow to justify spending $120 on 512mb of PC2700 just to be able to do 150MHz FSB. I'm a gamer. If I want increased performance, a faster videocard is where I would find it (currently have a GF3). If you have a 1GHz or better CPU, then you're GTG in that area.

But, as always, it's all about money. Right now, buying some PC2700 or better just isn't "smart" for me. Good luck! 🙂
