Crucial M500 960GB SSD - now in production!!!

I paid $29 A/R for this agility 4 128gb, if I had the desired I could have met that price point. so wait for OCZ they will come out with some junk and rebate it to death and boom 1TB for $250 A/R lolz.

Maybe in a few months the Vector will come down to reasonable price point for the 512gb flavor, the Sammy 840 Pro is almost 100 USD cheaper.
 
I wonder what the price tag will be. 800 dollars for 1TB ? ,,,,, anything higher and your waisting money.

And it took them long enough! Ever since the Jan 10 announcement, I've been googling every few days for the 960GB m500's release.
 
There might be a point that I'm missing, but if you guys need a TB of solid-state storage why don't you go for 2x 512GB 840 Pros in raid 0? Or any ~500GB SSD for that matter. Capacity and superior performance - sure, you'll pay for it, but so would you for a 960GB SSD.

some people want this in a laptop that only has the space for 1 drive.

I want one for a mac mini. I will fuse it with a 1tb 7200 rpm hdd. giving me effectively a 2 tb ssd ( not quite but close)

In their original announcement back in Jan, Micron clearly stated a retail price of $600.

Street prices should be lower (but perhaps only after initial demand has been fulfilled).

According to that site it has read speed of 500 and write speed of 400, i think thats pretty good since the price is suppose be around 500-600 and its large capcity.
 
Clearly M500 is not the fastest drive (both Samsung 840 Pro and Plextor M5P benchmark faster) - but both review sites show clearly that M500 is no slouch - its in the top tier as far as performance is concerned.

Of course with respect to price/performance and sheer capacity, its top dog.

Respectfully, who the hell cares? I want a 1TB SSD that is affordable. The M500 is the first drive that does PRECISELY that.

I could care less about setting speed records - SSDs in real world use are remarkably similar to each other. Besides which, you can use an 840 pro or vector for your boot drive, while using the 1TB M500 for everything else.

This isn't about speed. It is about affordable high capacity (eg 1TB).
