crucial m4 vs samsung 830

Will I see a noticeable difference in boot/loading times between these 2 SSDs? They are only $70 apart but on paper the Samsung SSD looks much better.

You won't notice any real world difference. Get which one is the cheaper. I have a Curical M4 in one PC and a Plextor M3 in another and they both boot up around the same time. Both have WEI scores of 7.9.

I got the M4 from Amazon and the 830 from MicroCenter (for testing purposes only for now). No difference in boot times, but the 830 is more responsive, feels snappier, and is newer. Photoshop opens up faster with the 830. I recommend the Samsung 830, and I'll get the 512GB from Amazon (much cheaper than locally).

Those two should perform similarly. They're basically the same drive with a different logo on them.

The Samsung drives are different than everyone else's. The reviews say Samsung will be faster. $70 faster? For most people, no. You're not going to be sitting around waiting for apps to load with any current SSD.

The Samsung is an overall better drive and comes with a good toolbox program. It is worth a premium yes, but it its down to you and your budget on whether you feel its justified. I would pay $70 more for the Samsung personally.

I thought Samsung uses their own controller, nand and design, whereas crucial uses a Marvell controller and IMFT nand

He was saying the Crucial m4 and the Plextor M3 are the same. Which is not really true, since the Plextor M3 has better flash (Toshiba toggle flash), better firmware and longer warranty.

Thanks, looks like I need to pay a bit more attention to what I'm reading.

Toms hardware says Crucial is faster at booting and launching of apps like
cs5 , 2 seconds for PS ... 16.8 seconds boot time with a couple tray icons....

Im a Sammy guy, but 700 dollars was just too much to pay. Doesnt make sense.... grabbed mine. LOL whoever said a bit snappier ,, its in your head,,,,,,,,,, its the same shizel.. 😳😳😕

I chose the Samsung 830 because of how it handles both kinds of data and the fact that Samsung makes everything and has a good toolbox. They just had the 128GB model on sale for $90 yesterday so keep an eye out for the good deals there.

Just picked one up. However, they are out of stock already. I missed it the last time they were this price, didn't hesitate this time around. Great price for a quality SSD.
