Here is a my thought on the subject. Granted I don't have all the technical experience as many others here. This is a layman's view at your request.

Both drives are awesome. While benchmarks show the Mushkin is better in some areas the M4 is also better in other areas. Over all the Mushkin (since it is sandforce) benchmarks faster. As for reliability, the M4 is very reliable. Now where people say the Mushkin drive is not reliable or less reliable I believe is a pure lie. Where is the proof? What are they using to back up these statements? Because it is a Sandforce controller it is not reliable? I know the company Mushkin and they are top notch! They stand behind their products and have awesome support. Also I have not seen people complaining that the Chronos Deluxe is a bad drive or unreliable what so ever.

With all that said I think both drives are very very good and very much worth the $ you can get them for. THE MOST important thing of all and many people will say this...In real world use you would never tell which one is which. Pop either in your PC and use it and you have no idea which one it is unless you benchmark it. If it was my choice I'd save the $ and buy a Chronos Deluxe you won't be disappointed. If you go with the M4 you also won't be disappointed! Either way enjoy your new SSD!

This is a good post. I guess I was hung up on comparing "horsepower" when in reality I'll never be pushing the drives to their limits.

I've actually decided to go for a 128GB M4 (saw a good deal for it.. $130 + tax). Save a little on the bank (half the cost), don't need the extra space... running dual drives in my macbook, and I can do firmware updates through OS X (which beats having to throw it in a Windows system everytime--Mushkin).

That is a very good price. I paid $149 and felt I was getting a good deal! It's a great drive...fast, stable, and should last a long while.

Is this your first SSD? If so, like me, I'm sure you'll be simply amazed at how fast general application loads and even computer boot time are improved.

My work computer is an i7-870 with 12GB of RAM. When I first got that, and I had a C2D at home, it seemed like such a beast. Then I built my i5 rig, and my home computer was a little faster, though not really noticable in daily use.

Once I transfered the OS to my SSD... Today I booted my work computer and after my desktop was first shown, it took another 20-30 seconds to finish loading all the services, standard programs, etc and for me to launch Outlook. For the first time ever with that machine, I thought "Geez...hurry up already!" Since, at home, after my desktop is shown with the SSD, it's less than 2 seconds before all services and programs are loaded and the machine is ready for anything.

If this isn't your first SSD, well, then forget everything I just said since you already know it. :)

That is exactly the reason I'm using my older Intel SSD in my work laptop. Considering I have to use that machine everyday its well worth it.
