I just received two emails from Crucial and Micron product sales support agents who have confirmed that Crucial Ballistix Tracer DDR3 memory modules are in production and will be released later this month!

I wasn't going to upgrade to Nehalem if Crucial didn't make DDR3 Ballistix Tracers, so Nehalem, here I come!

I'm hoping there will be a 2000MHz SKU. From looking at the engineering confirmation:

"We will be rolling out Tracer versions of all current Ballistix DDR3 SKUs over the next few months."

If I'm not mistaken, they already have a PC16000 2000Mhz SKU:

Hopefully this means good news!

Samsung has some great ICs in DDR3, & that upcoming Elpida looks awesome.

Micron's strong point seems to be lots of epic fail in DDR2, so i'll get more excited about Micron-based DDR3 after its been around for a while without dying all over the place.

3 or 6.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some kind of trickery that enables tri-channel with four or five DIMMs using Flex mode though...

I hope they're more reliable than the red Ballistix DDR2 modules. Those are plain junk.

*update*

It's been a month since I've posted this. I just emailed the Micron engineering department regarding the availability of the Ballistix Tracer DDR3 modules. Hopefully they reply soon, stay tuned.
