Crucial Announces Hot new product

For all you gamers, Crucial has come out with new memory modules designed for you. The Ballistix brand is now active on our website and it has a website of its own which can be found at: http://www.crucial.com/ballistix/ This memory has been tested and is capable of reaching aggressive timings. The DDR Ballistix memory is PC3200 CL-2 and we also have DDR2 PC4200, PC5300 Ballistix for the new motherboards, so give the website a once over and ask any questions that you are unable to find the answers to on the website. This is a big step for us but one we feel needed to happen. You will find the same top quality we use in our standard offerings so be assured you are getting the top of the line memory for your gaming systems. Timing links can be found at: http://www.crucial.com/media/releases/ballistix.asp

Good deal, I've been buying Crucial memory since the PC100 days, and recommend it to people more concerned about reliability than performance. Now you'll be offering performance too.

The memory selector is also a lifesaver for helping people buy memory for their old machines and laptops.

ROFL, oh my goodness....Boy wait til I get my hands on the web guys...I appreciate you pointing that out to me HeroOfPellinor. Ok, so we are getting past the typo, what do you think of this?

Ok, web guys got the typos fixed, hopefully that was all of them. Thanks for the support guys. We are doing our best to bring you all top notch products and at a decent price. 🙂

Same here, another good reason I like about Crucial is customer service which has been excellent in my experience.I also like the free delivery and excellent warranty/compatibility of Crucial ram.

🙂

Well, it's like Volvo coming out with a sports car. You know you're going to get reliability with the performance.

Price is fairly competitive. Name is excellent.

Cool... good to see you guys targeting the 'performance' market, even if I like my value ram 😀

while you're here, pardon my ignorance, but I have a dead 256 mb stick of crucial 2100, do you know offhand who I'd call to RMA it?

hmm not all that great for uk anyway, I can get 2x512mb corsair twinx for about the same (insignificantly less) as 2x512mb sticks of this, although crucial are claiming better timings. not bad, but not undercutting enough for me to upgrade my current ram.

anyone have ideas on what's likely to happen with the ram prices over next ~6 months? and wether the Ath64's are liable to increase FSB (or whatever they have that you're supposed to match ram speed to).

Speaking of typos, etc. is misspelled in your sig. 😉

RAM looks good though. I've tried buying other brands of ram recently, and was kind of disappointed. I'll be going back to Crucial and this might be the stuff I'm looking for. 🙂

I *LOVE* Crucial/Micron RAM. I've NEVER had problems with it (and I have with other, VERY expensive brands). I also love that it is (or at least I guess it is...) made in the U.S. At any rate, those prices look very competitive, and I'm WAY more likely to buy high-end RAM from Crucial than anyone else.

I also like the configuration stuff and the compatibility guarantee on the web site. It's GREAT for newbies, and kinda nice reassurance for everyone else 🙂

Crucial is my absolute favorite. Never ever had a problem with any stick I've bought from them.

Hey thats cool, Crucial in here at AT... I've always liked Crucial, I don't recall any problems with any memory modules that I've had. I'm using Corsair XMS PC3200 right now, but it will stay in my current rig which I'm going to turn into a media server. When I build a new main rig, I will definetly look into Crucial again.

Nice!

DDR2 is so expensive! $570 for a GB! *kills self*

Ah well, hopefully when AMD adopts it, the price will be driven down a bit.

Technically DDR2 isn't QUITE as bad as it looks. The higher latency DDR533 stuff sells for about the same price as low latency DDR-1 RAM, and benches about the same.

Also, the Memory Experts(SM) at Crucial Technology is bad at grammar.

I thought AT didn't allow free advertising threads?

I bet Crucial saw how good OCZ EB was doing by using Micron chips, so they decided to make their own performance line with the chips.

I think Crucial is a sponsor or something. They definitly have had deals for AT users for a while, so this isn't free advertising as much as it's an update by a partner or affiliate.

And besides, Micron/Crucial really does have a great product, and it's not like they're spamming 12 posts a day about it 🙂

I was going to start a thread about their new RAM anyway, if this one wasn't already here.

Crucial is definately good stuff.
Figures this pops up the day after I get my normal pc3200 ram from Crucial.
Oh well, I don't have that kind of money anwyays.
Either way Crucial has always been a name I look for when picking out ram for a customer.

Veryl nice! About time Crucial came out with performance ram for the enthusist market.

I really like Crucial ram and customer service. I had to RMA a bad stick two years after I bought it. Was the easiest RMA I've done. I'm looking forward to trying out some Ballistix ram.

Whoa! *drool*

Those are crazy-good timings. That RAM is probably a perfect match for A64 dual-channel systems. Looks like someone finally came out with chips good enough to match/beat the "legendary" Winbond BH-5 chips' timings.

I wonder how these compare at the high-end (DDR500+) against Hynix 'B' chips. It's almost like standard PC3200 speeds have become passe; sounds like it's time for some new higher-speed JEDEC standards.

Btw, 'Ballistix' was the name of a video game for the Amiga, and the PC-Engine/TurboGraphics-16 console, and maybe others. Not sure if the publisher of that game is still around. I wonder if Crucial realizes this? Since it's a different industry, it's probably not a trademark issue, but I just thought that I'd mention it.

Edit: Yeah, forgot to mention, Micron was my first choice for memory back in the PC100 days too. 🙂 Currently running a set of Kingston ValueRam in my current rig, assumed Nanya chips, but would love to try out some of this new Micron DDR stuff when the time comes. Maybe for my A64 rig when I get it.
