No No No !!!!!!

Say it isnt so :(

Rendition has finally bit the big one, oh well so much for old school 3d, both 3dfx and Nvidia are gone, R.I.P.

Edit: Not that they have done anything worthwhile in a very long time, just some part of me still remembers how much fun Vquake was on my Screaming 3d. And for those that dont know, Micron (I guess = to Crucial) bought Rendition out a long time back.

I have fond memories of my Diamond Stealth II S220 Rendition 2100 board. Best image quality in its day.

;) Should be as good as any other 9700PRO out there. Crucial's Rad8500LE SUCKS big time and uses disgustingly low clocks and cheap RAM but 9700 are VERY consistent. Do consider a Rad9700 as with a little sw tweaking it is MUCH better value and almost as fast!

At 319 bucks it seems like a very sweet deal. I also am looking to pick-up a 9700 Pro and have been researching it a bit. The most expensive one out there so far seems like the Hercules 9700 Pro at $375!

The "Built by ATI" card is at $338 and the SAPPHIRE RADEON 9700 PRO is $320 on newegg.com. I have read some really great reviews on the Sapphire Atlantis 9700 Pro. Also Sapphire makes most of the actual ATI cards for ATI from what I have read. One other thing is the Sapphire has a much nicer heat sink fan on the GPU.

;) I've also heard the Rad9700PRO-AIW is a very good bargain as it costs very little more than most std Rad9700PRO cards. May be worth a look!

I just bought one from Crucial. Under the new cat 3.1 drivers it is shown to be made by Sapphire (go figure). It is just a rebagged card it looks like with no manufacturing from Crucial (made in China sticker on back). I like the supprt policies of Crucial....that is the only reason I purchased one from them. I have had a problem with flickering out of the regular vga output port side of the card. But, the problems disappear when using the DVI to vga adapter and using that port instead. This is a problem with alot of 9700pro cards, not just crucial, about rolling and flickering. (Look under tech support forums at www.rage3d.com....lots of ATI info over there). Other than that the card works wonderfully, I am overall pleased with it, especially the performance in IL-2 which is what I play almost all of the time....Hope this helps...
